Config wizard Z-Axis with adjusted height in firmware.

(Lots of text in here.  Sorry in advance.  TLDR: Longer Z axis, config wizard not happy)

I upgraded my Mk 3S to a Mk 4, and decided to slap the unused mk3 parts onto the frame of an old CR10 to essentially have a larger MK3.  I'm at the stage now where I'm modifying the firmware to accept the longer axes.  I've got X and Y working with the initial setup wizard, but when it gets to the Z-Axis it plunges the nozzle into the bed before stopping and telling me there's been a problem.  I've set the Z_MAX_POS value in the firmware the same as I have for x and y.  I've tried Z_MIN_POS at the original 0.15 and at 0.00.  I have also tried adjusting the pinda offset from the nozzle, but that doesn't seem to have had any effect.

I did have to move the bed up a bit.  Do I need to put in physical stops on the vertical rods, or is there possibly something I'm missing in the firmware?

Hi, did you find out what needs to be changed to make it work?
