Switched to Dragon hotend - need to change Z travel reference, fan and PINDA

Hi, I was in need of a hotend replacement and therefore switched to the Phaetus Dragon UHF hotend. Although it fits into the housing the nozzle moved down more than 1cm and even 2cm when using the extension for fast nozzle exchange. This leads to some problems where I need some help:

1. Is the only way to adjust Z correctly to change the travel reference within the firmware itself? If so what needs to be adjusted?

2. The PINDA is way too high now and the printed part does not allow to move it down more. Is there any replacement which allows more room to the downside?

3. Same for the fan shroud at the front. It will blow on the middle of the heatblock. Is there any replacement/model to lower the fan itself or make the shroud longer?

Thanks in advance for any hints!

RE: Switched to Dragon hotend - need to change Z travel reference, fan and PINDA

Hello TZ,

Last week, i did the exact same thing and encountered the same issues.
I did the following: I cut a fine thread into a blok of PMMA which i then glued under the original thread that holds the superpinda. this allowed me to lower the superpinda to the required height. Despite the different Z coordinates, the printer works normally after first layer calibration. for the fan issue, I have not found a solution yet, so I'm just printing with somewhat poor cooling for now. I also found this , but don't know if it brings any improvement to the problem.

If you find out anything, I'll happy to learn about it.

Thanks for your insights and sorry for the delay. Eventually I dropped the Dragon hotend and switched to a new Revo to get rid of the headache. Very happy with this choice now.
