New roll of Polycarbonate won't stick well to any sheet.

Hey!

Lately i purchased a new roll of PC blend. The first roll was just perfect back than. With this new roll its stepped forward to a new chaotic level.

I tried everything, recalibrated the printer, cleaned all the sheets with everything, played with temp, but this new roll of PC just popp up from the bed almost every time. I tried with the original textured plate, when i use glue, the first layer wont even stick to the sheet. With smooth pei its "almost" good but if i print more than one thing, one of the object will come off mid print. I dried the filament too, so i'm a little pointless at this moment. Changed the nozzle too. Yep i print in enclosure.

Every other filament works like chamr!

Some idea?

Thanks guys!

if you've printed with that vendor/type before and it worked, maybe you got a bad batch?

I think you've tried everything that everyone on here would suggest.  Given you've printed with it before just fine,  I'd be suspecting that particular spool.   I'd definitely be interested in opinions of more experienced printers than myself though.

You said PC blend to me that means prusament, you can check the batch info on the website. I'm wondering in the back of my mind if your bed is getting up to temp?, my normal PC Blend experience is " I wonder how hard it's going to be to remove the part this time 🤔 " as for suggestions have you tried maybe printing on top of blue tape just as an experiment to see how it bonds? or kapton, no glue,,,,.. it's got to be a heat issue in my mind. also just because your display says it, that doesn't necessarily make it so.

Good Luck, that's all I can think of at this time.

@swiss_cheese

Yep, i thought  about bed temp. Its really 110C'. I have a litte leftover from the first PC and its stick like hell.

Its a damn interesting problem.

I have the same problem. Satin sheet. Textured sheet, dried spool, increased bed temp to 120..

At ~3mm of a 60mm x 100mm flat object..  it peels off the plate.

Hey! I solved back than.
My pinda sensor was loose, and the whole extruder needed to be fix, cos all the screws was loosened cos the heat.

So after a great bed calibration (with nylock mod) and the fix of the extruder its printed nice and smooth to the smooth pei with glue!

Check your bed with a full plate print first layer test. (180mm x 180mm x 0.2mm box shape)

Good luck!:)

RE:

I saw 17/04.. didn't see the year. Thanks for the quick response though  😉

I've tried everything though, recalibrated, with the 100 x 100 PLA and PETG on all my sheets using using https://forum.prusa3d.com/forum/original-prusa-i3-mk3s-mk3-assembly-and-first-prints-troubleshooting/life-adjust-z-my-way/

PLA and PETG are perfect,  Of course I don't have one for PC Blend.. but expect the Z adjust to be good.

I just finished about 80 hours of printing a trial guitar for the music contest, and every piece fits like a glove!!!
But I realised the neck is off, so I just wanted to print a 3mm 1.5 degree shim and thought i'd try the new CP blend roll.. 8 attempts all failed.
My new roll of PC blend just wont stick,  it peels left, then right, then back.. then looks like a lemon.

I've given up and doing it in PLA.

I wonder if they maybe changed the formulation?

When I ordered my first (and only) spool of PC Blend, they warned about it sticking too well and included a Kores glue stick with an admonition to use it as a release agent.

I've found through experience that Layerneer works just as well but does not leave streaks on the underside of the print.

Last week I did a couple more PC Blend prints using Layerneer and they stuck fine and released fine.   One was a bracket with a small footprint and quite a bit of overhang and it printed perfectly.

Are you using glue stick (or something like Layerneer, Magigoo) as a release agent and adhesion booster?  It might be worth trying it.  I've never printed PC Blend on a bare plate mainly because of the warnings not to do so because it would stick too firmly.

RE:

That is why I have been too scared to try it on my PEI sheets, and I haven't used any glue due to all the posts about it sticking like crazy...
Right now.. I'd settle for any sticking 😉

It has worked perfectly for all the small gear prints I have done (using a 0.4mm nozzle), this was the first real big print I was trying and even then.. its not huge.
The pieces are rock solid and tough as hell, but when trying to make 3mm to 0.1mm shim, even the slightest warp will cause issues with the guitar (and it's always warped on the big end so far)

Guess the roll will go back in the drying box until I have more time to play, but not really confident with this at the moment. 🙁

Also, one other note, the PC Blend is apparently moisture-sensitive to the point that it will ruin prints.  I learned this by trial and error.

My spool of PC Blend is over two years old, and it's always kept in a drybox.  However, every time I use it I'll run it through the Ninja Cooker for 12 hours at 150F/66C to get it really most sincerely dry.

I can try drying again. Mine is about a 2 months old. Ordered on 3/5/2023, Dispatched 3/7/2023, Arrived 3/10/2023
It arrived with the satin sheet, I calibrated the Z and printed a new scraper right away.

It peeled near the end, but I wasn't worried about the scraper and put it down to draft as the door to my study was open (I don't have a sealed enclosure ... yet). The spool was put back in the ziplock back with 2 moisture absorber sachets, and then the bag was put in my sealed storage box, which has 2kg of silica gel crystals in the base. I printed some small gears about a month ago (about 10mm in diam) and they are all ok), and I dried it for 8 hours with at 45C with some PVB I was drying and it went back in the bag, and box.

Last night I needed the shim and thought.. yeah.. the PC blend will be really strong for this, and well.
5 hours later and 8 failures later, I gave up though and this post showed up on my first search.

I'll try remove the spool and try again dry it again at a higher temp, but I'm going away on a work trip this weekend, so it will have to wait 3 weeks 🙁
