0.8mm nozzle causing boogers

Switched the nozzle on my MK3S+ to a 0.8mm nozzle but I'm having a terrible time printing. At 0.4mm layer height, the first layer looks great but after a while, I get these "boogers"/blobs that appear and cause the print to fail. I'm not sure what's causing the issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thank you both! I figured it out. I tried lowering the extrusion multiplier but nothing helped. I then noticed that the heater block was leaking and that was dripping, causing the blobs. I removed the nozzle and reset the heater block and everything is working great now.

 

Thanks again for helping. I learned about how to set the multiplier which will definitely help me in the future!

if you watch carefully, can you see filament collecting around the outside of the nozzle tip, as the print progresses? 
the Boogers you have, look  original colour and stringy, rather than miscoloured, burned and blobby.

Typically, in my experience,   miscoloured, burned and blobby filament tends to come from poorly fitted nozzles,  usually leaking over the top of the heat block and down into the print area
stringy and original colour boogers tend to be a result of the nozzle scraping through the surface of the filament, where they collect until they get too big to support themselves when they fall off, usually into the most inappropriate locations. 

looking at your pictures the top of your print's look a little ribbed. rather than smooth. 


Is your extrusion multiplier set to a value greater than 1? 
this may be the result of out of tollerance filament ( larger  diameter than the slicer is expecting) Have you measured your filament in a number of places and at different angles to check for size and ovality?, or it could be that the printer is over extruding (providing more molten filament than needed to fill the available space) Prusa slicer typically reduces the flow rate to 95% on larger layer heights, you could try reducing the flow rate to say 90% during printing, or you could try reducing your extrusion multiplier to say 0.95 during slicing... 
3D printing is based on a series of approximations, based on many factors, any one of which could change expected performance. for example, if the filament composition has resulted in a filament which melts at a lower than expected temperature,(or your thermistor is resulting in higher than expected temperatures ( it's not the most accurate temperature sensor)  then you may get over extrusion due to reduced nozzle backpressure... or the nozzle diameter may be manufactured a little oversize, or worn with use... 

have a play, make a small test piece, see what changing the various values does.
different filaments can perform differently...

I was thinking the same as Joan, overextrusion. I usually calibrate the extrusion multiplier separately for 0.8 mm nozzles because for some reason I don't know they seem to me more prone to creating these boogers.

Formerly known on this forum as @fuchsr -- until all hell broke loose with the forum software...

Good catch, 
leakages from the top usually result in discoloured blobs,,, 
have you seen the diagrams relating to nozzle changes, showing the gap between the nozzle and heatbreak, when the nozzle is tightened against the heatbreak?
