3DHubs Marvin keeps failing

Hi All,

I have a new printer up and running, it passed all the tests etc. The Batman print works really well with PLA but 3DHubs Marvin keeps coming loose about 80% of the way into the print. I have tried it four times and each times it failed almost at the same point.

My friend with a different printer recommended hair spray, and that worked, but he also felt that the Prusa shouldn't have this issue, especially with one of the test prints.

I have tried cleaning the smooth PEI sheet with both alcohol and acetone and neither helped.

Any guidance would be appreciated.

Thanks

This is pretty common, and there are 2 main causes:

  • Your bed needs cleaning. For a quick test, dunk it under the kitchen sink and wash it with some dish soap. Dry it off with a clean paper towel and avoid touching it at all costs.

  • Your Live-Z adjustment might be off. Try the "life adjust" procedure for a much simpler and easier-to-understand method.
  • My notes and disclaimers on 3D printing
