Does my Prusa MINI Extruder Driven Gear (Filament Spur) need replacement?

So I have a recurring issue with the filament spur gear (linked below), where it will slowly eat away at the filament until the filament no longer extrudes and just sits there until it is grinded all the way through. This takes about 3-4 hours if I had to guess based on how much of a part is completed. In the photo below you can see how much filament dust in the gearbox (yikes). I have taken apart the back of the extruder to clean the gears and filament channel with compressed air, brush the filament spur with a brass brush, and wipe it down with some alcohol. It does seem that there are some ares that I cant get filament out of the gear even with brushing.

I had a front end clog that required a nozzle change a few weeks back, during the process of fixing that the gear chewed through my filament several times. This past week my filament drying device fell off the counter with the filament in it, which caused another jam as the full force of the fall was picked up by the extruder gear system. Since the fall this failure mode has occurred 4 times. I have checked the other parts of the filament extruding system, and they seem clean. I think the fall did some damage and I need to replace my filament spur gear, thoughts?

I suppose it is possible friction is being introduced somewhere else which could cause a slow buildup up filament, but I am not sure where that would be.
