Part with heatbed connector is MELTED (help)!

Hi everyone,

Super concerned about this on the MINI+. Has anyone experienced a similar issue or knows the root cause? My friends and I (relatively inexperienced) built the printer from the kit, and I'm worried a loose connection of some sort may have locally raised the temperature of this part to the melting point of the part itself. I haven't been operating it since I'm scared of melting  reaching the wiring below, and prospect of an electrical fire. What should I do to fix this?

RE:

Root cause appears to be right there in black and white: the crimp on the top wire to lug connection is bad and overheated.  If you have an IR thermometer, start a print and focus it on that spade lug crimp. Odds are high it'll jump up in temp faster than anything around it. A finger will do since the bed won't be moving during preheat... but it can get hot fast, so don't burn yourself.

ps: it's possible the problem is on the backside of the connection, under the nylon locknut that is melted... same issue there, screw not properly connected to the board (loose or has something under it keeping it from a sound connection).

If there's stuff heating up on an electrical connection, that means it's a bad or insufficient contact.

What happened was either the cable crimping was bad or the screw was not tightened enough.

Definitely needs replacement:

- Heatbed cable

- Nylock nuts (both of them)

Requires inspection (maybe replacement)

- Bolts holding the connections

- The pads of the heatbed (if they're charred or discolored - ideally take a picture with bolts removed to send to support)

You should contact support and see if they can send you a new cable and possibly troubleshoot any other potential issues.

You should not use the printer until this is resolved.
