Stacking LACK IKEA Table Enclosures..

A bit of a weird question (and sorry if it’s posted in the wrong place) but I was just wondering if anyone here had any experience stacking IKEA Lack Enclosures?

I have three in total but I’m tentative to stack them all vertically. It would be a godsend if we could, to save space, and I’m quite sure the structure of the enclosures would not cause any issues, however I’m concerned about the amount of accumulated vibration from three printers running simultaneously potentially jeopardising the quality of prints. 

I have added the squash ball anti-vibration feet mod to each printer to try to best mitigate this but I thought I’d ask here for any advice first -

Apologies - I should add that the printers are all Prusa Mini+

It's more important to add concrete slabs between printer and the base it stands on ( in that case it would be a Lack table).

Just try it?

Hi, if you have firmware at least in 5.1.x, but probably better to have the latest one, you can download BonkersBenchy_PLA_MINI_IS_16m.gcode , from prusa github account, and print on your printer, for best experience top left one will be the best 🙂 [and try two  printers at once too] so you will see the mechanical limits, and maximum accelerations those printers can achieve, and how wobby the ikea lack table is. And then probably you will want to add something to make the tables more sturdy. But it can work that way anyway 😉 Also you will find that the surface of the table is great speaker, so if you are concerned about noise you can add rubber mat which cut the noise a lot. And in your configuration looks like that if you will want to print Z layer up to 180mm the top ptfe tube and cables will scratch the table, and probably it can even degrade printing tall objects... Still, for small models it's not probably the issue. Good stable tables has supports, most of the time parallel lines under the base plate, but triangles are very good, maybe less practical for daily used tables, but for device support should be fine, when you add them, you can limit linear acceleration a lot, in my test based on the model from 2-10 times, and with additional mat it made the printers much more bearable to listen to 😉

Thanks for the advice, I've bought some concrete slabs, cut them to size and painted them (my local retailer advised this to seal the dust). Just finished setting up the rig so planning to give it a test run soon.

Wow thanks for the advice! That's super helpful - please could you let me know where I can find the BonkersBenchy files? I did have a look on this page on GitHub but I'm not too familiar with it. I'm only asking because one of my printers is set up with PETG while the other two print PLA

there is no SwoleBenchy for PETG, only PLA, but you could get the .gcode and edit it with text editor and bump bed temperature to 85C and hotend temperature to 240C (something like 4 lines in total) and you should be good to go (probably 😀 )

Just before I break anything, the relevant part of the gcode for the PLA benchy looks like this:

maybe to be on the safe side just run the provided gcode on PLA ready printer? at least you will understand what this bonxersbenchy is 😉  still it's printer acceleration and vibrations of the table, PETG is different than PLA

ah, and i realized that probably we are talking about two different flies, i don't know the 'SwoleBenchy' but the file i'm reffering to is 'BonkersBenchy' and was released together with 5.1.0-alpha1 firmware for MINI, and you have to use IS to print it:
