OBJ Import Support

Does PrusaSlicer support OBJ import? It fails import every time I try.

I'm modeling on Blender but it doesn't support 3MF export. I was really hoping to be able to use something other than STL since the quads to tris conversion in STL seems to be messing up my model.

Thanks in advance!

PrusaSlicer does indeed support OBJ import.

If you can't drag the OBJ file and drop it on the build plate in PrusaSlicer, click on File, select Import and Import STL/OBJ/AMF/3MF and then navigate to the location of the OBJ file.

I double click on OBJ's and then choose slicer to handle it (I have other apps that are also associated with .OBJ files).

You have a better chance if you activate "Triangulate Faces" on export. PrusaSlicer can not handle strongly distorted quats.

Also, you should activate the "3D Print Toolbox" add-on to check your model for errors.

Hope they will add 3MF support in the future.

RE: OBJ Import Support

Thanks everyone for your feedback. I'll have to check my file because it still fails every time.

I do have the 3D Printing addon enabled in Blender and I'm exporting using it. It is giving me no errors on my model other than overhang faces that are in a few areas that won't matter.

I'll just have to stick with STL for now and hope that Blender gets better support in the 3D printing area soon. Especially support for 3MF.

Thanks again!

RE: OBJ Import Support

Did this get resolved? I have the same problem with OBJ import to prusaslicer.    Cura handles the obj files fine

Still didn't work for me, with e.g. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2722959/files where I had to use Cura to slice it.
