Need help slicing chessboard pattern

I am trying to print part that contains chessboard like pattern and I stumbled on slicing problem.

I made chessboard squares corners overlap a bit to ensure they are connected. For some reason PrusaSlicer does not follow overlap and prints squares as 100% separated islands.

I could not solve this in PrusaSlicer. No matter what I tried I got those islands.

My final solution was to redesign part and use more corner overlap (I went to about 1 mm overlap) which ensured proper slicing. However, result is not as appealing as it would with less overlap (empty and filled squares are noticeably different size).

I would like to learn how to handle this.

As I can see, spacing between corners is greater than single wall thickness so I see no reason not to put some plastic there.

I provided both STL and 3MF file. STL is reduced to 50% size in 3MF, but issue is there even at 100%.

I had problem attaching files to the forum directly so they are uploaded to WeeTransfer https://we.tl/t-DhhiIl5wxt

PrusaSlicer I use is Version 2.2.0

Hi Pedja,

could you please ZIP the 3mf file and attach the file directly to the post in the forum.
the  site you point to, expects users to accept some terms and conditions before they can access the files.
I for one am not prepared to do that.

are you printing these tiles on a multi material printer?

regards Joan

I'm with Joan, I dont download files from random sites.  Without seeing anything and going just from your description it sounds like you are printing just the 'dark' parts of a chessboard pattern ?

If that is the case and the squares are not connecting then best guess is to check to see what your elephants foot compensation value is under Print Settings>Advanced>Slicing (you need to be in advanced or expert mode to see it).  The default profiles for a mk3 type printer have it set as 0.2.  This means the first layer gets shrunk by 0.2mm inwards to compensate for the squish against the plater.  For many though this is a bit too aggressive and 0.1 will do.

We can get a better idea once you have the .3mf zipped and attached though.
