Core One skipping steps/Layer shift

Hey guy's,

we recently got the core one for our workplace. Since then I frequently have trouble with severe layer shifting. I have tweaked my profiles a but only basic settings like infill pattern, support material etc. The speeds and acceleration are based on the 0.2 speed profile in prusa slicer. I turned off ramping z lift but that didn't fix it. I checked the belt tention but nothing unordinary. The layer shift seems to happen after about 10 to 15 mm and not always in the same direction.

Any help is greatly appreciated,

thanks in advance!

RE: Core One skipping steps/Layer shift

mine did this as well early on like my second print, in my case one belt was looser at 75hz. I tuned belts and found that the reason they were uneven was likely that they squared the x-y axis this way, with tuned belts I had a tiny gap on the left side. I went through the procedure to square the x-y axis, I used printed shims of ASA, after quite a bit of trial and error I got it square and retuned belts. Since then my layer shifts are gone, also it is homing consistently without headbanging.

Did you use completly stock settings?

There is a current bug in the software that creates a layer shift at fast print speeds with arc fitting turned off or avoid crossing perimeters on, mostly on round objects. https://github.com/prusa3d/Prusa-Firmware-Buddy/issues/4573

Interesting, I never heard of this setting before.

My settings are not 100% stock. I changed stuff like number of perimeters, infill pattern and density, generate support material etc. All of these are what I would consider basic settings which are likely to be tweeked at some point anyway.

I searched for arc fitting and avoid crossing perimeters which are set to enabled: G2/3 IJ and the other is disabled. Although this constalation should not cause this bug, I found out that this problem somehow is caused by high speeds, I'm suspecting bad stepper drivers or something. Since my original post I contacted prusa. It's likely I'll be sending the printer in for a check and repair.

Try to print the same item with original settings. - If it works, it is your changes, if it also does not work, it might be hardware or this slicer bug.

I also had big troubles with my ecoPLA (from 3DJake). I used a profile for this filament that worked well on my Ender, but it completely fails the first layer on CoreOne.
so, just switched to GenericPLA and all was fine (and much more faster).
