Color change adhesion?

Tried my first two-color print, and this happened. Adhesion was poor, and the pieces more-or-less just fell off.

Is there a technique for getting the first layer after the color change to stick better?

Note: I'd probably print it reversed from how I printed it this time, (i.e. with the base first, then the detail) but I'd expect the same issue.  Of course, maybe I should try it...

That will definitely print better the other way up.

By the look of the detached part you should benefit from a thorough bed cleaning too.

Diem is correct, right now all your orange color appears to be bridging, if you print the orange first it will print layer on layer.

Definitely print it base first. And are both colors the same type of filament?

Thorough bed-cleaning, check.

Going to try the opposite order, and yes - both filaments are PLA.

Thanks, folks!  I'll report back.

Different colors and brands can have difficulty adhering to one another.

If you do end up having material to material adhesion problems I have a technique for that. but I suspect you'll be OK.

Okay, it's a different print, but adhesion was much, much better this way.

I'll try the Rotary Wheel later, and report, but this one seems just fine.

BTW - it's not for me. It's for a friend with (obviously) issues. 🙂

What is your layer height set at in relation to your nozzle diameter? On your purple print, I think I can see ribbing on the sides and waves on the surface. In my printing, I have caused those by either under extrusion or by pushing my layer height to far. With waves, the top layer can only barely bond with the one below; as it cools the lack of adhesion causes it to lift on one side and is pushed back down next time the extruder comes by. Try setting your layer height to about half of the nozzle diameter. Hope that might be useful!

I have this kind of problem.

I have the same problem using SuperSlicer. The first layer after colour change (m600 command) is under extruded for first about 7cm length... I tried many times also using the same colour. I always have this.

What are the two filaments?  Are they the same type?

Yes. Same type and same settings.

I tried to use the same filament.

This is the result

Perhaps more purge after filament swap?

no, the purge is fine and 5cm of filament is ejected. there is probably a bug in the creation of the gcode. I tried with different settings as well as with the standard ones but the result does not change . it would be interesting to see someone's test. empty cube with 1 perimeter

Okay, I guess now is the time to ask what should have been asked at the beginning. Can you post the zipped up 3mf project file? What you're seeing is certainly not normal. I've done boatloads of filament swaps and never seen anything like this.

Hello Fuchsr.

Did you try to find a solution for this problem?

Thanks

After looking at the images you posted, you most likely have a partial blockage in the hot end. causing an under extrusion, this can be caused by not purging enough on filament change, or even switching between filament types without purging enough. I would try atomic pulls,  also known as cold pulls and make sure that your temps are set right for the filament filament your swapping.

RE: Color change adhesion?

Sorry, I was cut off the forums for a week due to a technical glitch. I agree with swiss_cheese, most likely a partial clog.
