Fine Z Calibration with gauges

I was curious if there is a way to adjust the nozzle height (like you are able to while running first layer calibration) without extruding?   I would like to use a feeler gauges to really hone in the bed but cannot find an option to do so.

If not - will taking the Z axis down to 0.0 bring the nozzle to its first layer height?  I can just work from there if need be.

Or am I just going about this the wrong way...

Note: My prints are coming out good I just want to fix the small trouble areas that sometimes cause print failures.

If you use octoprint there is a plugin that measures 9 points of the heatbed and displays the values. It called “Prusa leveling” or similar, cant check at the moment. It is intended for if you changed the spacers beneath the heatbed to nylock nuts or springs but it gives you the information either way.

Oh, and you can read out the values from the calibration using g codes, but I can’t help you with that. Ask google 🙂
