„Layer Problem“
Hello everyone.
I build my first 3D Printer last weekend (build it up by myself).
Really enjoyed it. I calibrated it and printet the first few samples from the SD card, worked out fine. I also printed a Battery Dispenser which also looked very good, i printed all with the original Prusa PLA which came with the printer..
yesterday i figured out a Problem: I printed a small Cup for flowers and as you can see over the right eye there is a problem with i think it is the layer?
Maybe someone can help me to figure it out why this happened? I sliced it with peusa slicer but i did not changed any of the settings..

That looks like the seam. Where a layer starts/ends. You can choose several options of where PS puts it. Often (depending on setting) it will try and hide it in a corner but on a round object there aren't corners to hide it in. You could try either rear which places them in a (somewhat) straight line which makes them easier to post process or you could use random to scatter them around. Its very hard/impossible to get rid of the seam entirely, although you can reduce it by tuning your filament settings.
You can activate the seam tickbox on a slice preview to see where they will get placed.

Ah ok, thanks for the reply. I did not know that with the Seam Settings. I will try that today. So in Prusa Slicer you click on the bottom right corner on the button "Slice" and then there should be a checkbox with Seam somewhere?

No, you slice the file which automatically switches you to the preview. At the bottom of the preview are 2 drop down lists. The left one allows you to select what type of data you are previewing. By default its 'Feature Type" but many other types are selectable. Next to it is one that says "Show Options". The show seam is in there. Just tick that option and it puts a white dot where the seam will go.

Thanks for the reply and for the link to the knowledge base. Yeah I am not familiar with the PS yet, startet with 3D printing last weekend. I am goint to print that again and try this features.

Learn to always go through the preview. Once you know what you are looking for you can spot many things that would cause problems with a print before you try actually printing. Saves you much time and material. Dark blue of unsupported perimeters for example, where its often an idea to add supports. Parts not placed flat to the bed is another one that catches people out, so you end up printing in the air, which can be a costly mistake (just search for blob of doom on the forums).
