Different tension for different filament?

I ran into a problem I never had before.

I had been printing without any problems using SUNLU PETG. Today I received a roll of BambuLab PLA Tough which I wanted to try. I unloaded the PETG, loaded the PLA, tried to purge (just to be sure) but nothing happened. I increased the tension of my Mini, decreased it but again nothing.

Could a 1,75mm filament be so different that it requires different tension or what could be the reason?

Yes.  It's rarer nowadays but out of spec filaments used to be really common.  If you find you have to change idler tension it's worth measuring the diameter of the filament, in several places, and average it, then enter the value in the filament profile as a lot of other parameters depend on it for quality printing.

Cheerio,

Thank you very much for your fast reply. Would actually have never expected it as almost every filament is having 0.02 or o.o3 accuracy these days.

You may have a small amount of PETG left in the nozzle which is hard at the temperature for PLA.

I'll try cleaning filament.

OK. When cleaning, use a temperature PETG (240-250 degrees).

When exchanging PETG > PLA, it is necessary to first insert PLA at the PETG temperature and only after all PETG residues have been extruded, insert the PLA again at the PLA temperature.

I cleaned it and tried again but it did not work.

BambuLab PLA Tough suggested temp setting is 190 to 230. So why my Mini tried to print I slowly adjusted the temp. When it reached 235 it the filament finally started to flow.

I had set it to 200 so in a way it was my mistake but it never occurred to me when the range is 190 to 230 that I had to go up to max and even beyond.

Thanks for your help.

The hotend seems to be cleaned up. Now try to reduce the temperature gradually.
