How to report bugs and errors

Before you submit a bug report, please use the Search function to make sure the bug hasn’t been already reported. If this is the first occurrence of the bug, add a new post to the Bugs & Errors forum and use a descriptive name for the topic. In case the bug has already been reported, feel free to add a reply in an existing topic with your own comment (e.g., you encountered the same bug but with slightly different behavior, etc.)

Your bug report should contain the following information:

  • PrusaLink type (Raspberry Pi Zero / Pi 3 / Pi 4)
  • PrusaLink version
  • Printer type
  • Printer UUID (you can find it in Printer detail page - address line)
  • Printer firmware version
  • PrusaSlicer version (if applicable)
  • Description of the bug, including steps to reproduce (if possible).

RE: How to report bugs and errors

I Read How to report bugs and errors and am honestly trying. I went through the first 6 pages and even searched importing old files and incorrect size old files

I'm a bit older and not sure I understand everything. I have been using a previous version for about 3 years but don't know what version it was after upgrading.

PrusaLink type (Raspberry Pi Zero / Pi 3 / Pi 4)

--- None that I know of.

PrusaLink version

--- Not Sure what that is but I upgraded to Version 2.7.2+win64

Printer type

--- Creality Creality Ender-5 Plus

Printer UUID (you can find it in Printer detail page - address line)

--- No IDEA where that is nor how to find it ?

Printer firmware version

--- No IDEA where that is nor how to find it ?

PrusaSlicer version (if applicable)

--- Version 2.7.2+win64

Description of the bug, including steps to reproduce (if possible).

--- I have ONLY older files starting off with whatever version was out towards the ending of 2021.After upgrading to Version 2.7.2+win64 , When I import a stl file it shows up MUCH larger than it actually is. I have images and hope that helps.

Thank You for your time ,

Dan

RE: How to report bugs and errors

Hi, you are in the Prusa Connect / PrusaLink section, that's why we want that info. It's fine.

Your model loaded 5x larger for whatever reason. No idea what unit mixup might have happened there. When you give it 0.2 in the scale in the bottom right, will it be exactly the right size?

RE: How to report bugs and errors

Thank You so Much for getting back to me.  I apologize for being such a pain in the backside, but this new version is just to much for me to deal with right now.

I copied and pasted " 0.2 " and it did not work.  I loaded and retried it a few times thinking maybe I was doing something working ( again , Hahaha ) and it did the same thing. After trying a four different files and it still not working properly , I decided to uninstall and TRY to go back to0 version I had.

BIG mistake.

I was able to find the previous version I had on a deep dive into the drive it was named :

prusa3D_win_2_3_1.exe    and had a date / time stamp of 06-25-2021

IO was going to install the old one but wanted to make sure I got rig of all anything of the newer one so I went to RegEdit and searched for all / anything " Prusa " and deleted everything I could.  I believe I got most of it but I know there were some things I just wasn't going to let me get ride of.

So as it turns out after deleting all I could I rebooted , went back to Apps to see if it was there and it wasn't so I RE-installed older version.  It didn't work.  The Splash screen came up but it didn't Launch.  When I tried to uninstall it I got the message in Uninstalling Old ver.

Ive tried installing both versions a few times.   I now get the image named PRUSA ERROR , so I'm at point now I'm unsure what to do.

I DO understand y'all are busy and all , but ANY information you need , I'd be more than happy to provide.

Thank You for your time ,

Respectfully ,

Dan

RE:

Hi Dan,

I am not sure I understand the sequence of events correctly, but I understand you had three different issues:

1. After upgrading to 2.7.2, your objects were being loaded larger than you wanted. This is difficult to solve without seeing the files, but based on what I see in the right panel, I suspect that you were loading an STL in the old version, while you use a 3MF in the new. The 3MF may contain some transformations which you do not expect and consider it an error.

2. You are getting the "set_deserialize failed" errors when you try to run the old version. This is because there are profiles the old version is not compatible with, and it is unable to cope. If you use 2.3.2 instead of 2.3.1, it should be better, because some forward-compatibility handling rules were added in that version. Another option is to delete the configuration folder (in AppData/Roaming/PrusaSlicer), but this will remove any user profiles that you may have created, so do it only if you are sure you will not lose anything precious (and better backup the folder, just in case).

3. The installer reports errors when trying to uninstall some old version. This may be triggered by the manual registry tweaks that you mention. Anyway, you don't really need to install the software. Simply download the ZIP archive from our github releases page, choose a version that you like (I recommend the latest stable, i.e. 2.7.2), download the archive for Windows (there is an Assets dropdown at the end of each release block), unzip it wherever you like and run prusa-slicer.exe.

Has any of that helped?
