The nozzle "appears" to hit a top layer and take it off the base.

The first try printed fine with the JP on the whistle (first picture). 2 more tries resulted in prints where the top layers do not complete (second picture). It looks like the nozzle "hits" the print and pushes it off the base. This same problem occurred when I tried printing out the screw. It printed up to the top of the "hex" and as it started the "screw" part it knocked it off the base.  This is a brand new factory build mini+ that I have had for 2 days. I have no clue what I am doing. Reading a lot and learning. Thanks.

It looks like your first layer calibration is putting you nozzle too high. You don't get enough squish against the bed which results in poor adhesion.

Thank you Sylvia!!!  You nailed it. I lowered the Z by a whole bunch and it worked!

Also keep in mind that the live-z is different for different plates. It looks like you are using the textured sheet which could use more squishing (when compared to smooth) and I recall reading that it is perhaps "thinner" adding to the live-z being lower (when compared to smooth sheet).

I am using the base that came with the mini+. It is a green color and is smooth. Just to give it a try, today I ordered one of the metal base plates: "Double-sided satin powder-coated spring steel sheet for the Original Prusa i3 MK3/S/+ and MK2.5/S". Thank you for the coaching! Mike
