Filament vibration

So I went hacking on my Mini today and changed the following:

  1. Nozzle 0.4mm -> 0.8mm (genuine E3D)
  2. Added the filament sensor [FYSETC - sadly can't buy Prusa parts due to Brexit 🙁 ]
  3. Switched to a different PLA filament
  4. Started printing with a 0.6mm layer [previously 0.3mm]

I'm experiencing significant vibration on the filament. You can't see it, but you can feel it by holding the filament between sensor and spool betweeen your finger. The vibration is higher frequency when printing straight lines (perimeter) and slower when printing solid infill (and hence extrude is doing stop/start work).

So far I've tried to loosen the filament tension screw - which has reduced the vibrations a bit.

Anyone experience something similar? Printer was super quiet before - although I'm wondering if vibrations in the filament were always there - and the filament sensor is simply acting as a resonating box.

RE: Filament vibration

I think the magnet within the sensor is "dancing" during retraction hitting the parts around making a metallic noise that seems the extruder clicking.

I'm gonna checking now if electrical tape would keep the magnet more stable.
