Rasp Pi 4B 2GB ok for octoprint?
  • Only raspberry pi I can seem to find is a 4B with 2GB RAM. Would that be sufficient for running Octoprint? Don’t know enough about Rasp Pi yet to know if I can upgrade the RAM once it’s available again?

I think the answer is yes, it seems. At least according to this. Maybe not super future proof but sufficient perhaps…

Yes, the 2GB model is plenty. I run that model with Octoprint, have a reasonable number of plugins enabled, and a 1080 webcam. It generally doesn’t need more than 1GB, but have room to try more plugins in the future.

RE:

Even a cheaper (25$) Pi3A+ is good enough for Octopi/Octoprint, and that has only 512MB RAM. Even cheaper Pi0W2 (15$) is good enough (same RAM, also quad core). Pi3A+ does even serve two cameras for me (scene view v1 camera, and nozzle view USB borescope camera), that can be switched by clicking buttons in GUI, see below:

2GB version of rpi 4 is more than enough. Don't use the older rasperry pis tho, for some reason they don't keep up with bigger gcodes and can freeze on layer switch resulting in filament oozing and making blobs on print
