Thank you very much. After all this I will test this extruder. I am really excited about the noise level and functionality at all. I will check again after I am done printing/assembling this mod. Thanks again for now.

RE:

So I just installed the mod and I tried print three 30m PLA prints and now I am printing a 7,5h PLA print.

Some - things atm:

1) I am seeing maybe little bit more stringing even with PLA, not tried the PETG yet.
2) When I am loading the filament I can hear like trrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr betweeen gears and filament, but when I push little bit the filament to the gears the sound stop and it starts to loading normally.
3) I really do not know if the axis in the tension gear can move too, because my is moving with the gear.

Some + things atm:

1) I just love the quiet retraction. That is so beautifull than the original extruder. I can now hear only the X, Y motors moving with the X, Y axis, but the extruder retractions are so quiet, so nice! Loving it!

2) The loading/unloading filament is also so much quiter and more nice sound to it.

I make some short videos. Can you check them for me and tell me if you spot/hear something not quite right?

Video 1:

Video 2:

Bonus video of original extruder sounds that I had, and that was the main reason why I started to love this mod:

I had exactly the same noise with the standard extruder. This dual gear extruder is much more quiet. Next to this it's also a bit better when using TPU, due to the dual gears.

Yeah mine has that kind of gear noise when feeding as well.  But when it comes to feeding when printing,  it's silent.  Maybe the high speed of gears grabbing the filament?  Either way it's been great so far.

RE:

just the Bondtech extruder and you are fine 🙂 i tried the heatbreak at it made it worse stock heatbreak is fine with bondtech extruder mod,

had some problems with the stock extruder after about 3 rolls of fillament so i switched, never ever had a clock or anything like that.

and with the new prusaslicer beta if you dont want to print realy high detail and more functional parts i recommend 0.6mm nozzle with the new arachne feature you can get print quality near the old 0.4mm but much faster

RE:

What I have on my prusa mini. Maybe this helps somebody

  • open source extruder (<15 USD) instead of the bondtech (which is very expensive). I print all kind of filament with it, even TPU https://www.printables.com/model/118593-cm3d-extrusor-mini-fs
  • Better fan duct (optimized airflow). There are many mods
  • Brackets to have a more stable Z/Y axis attachment.
  • Better hotend (dragon hotend). If you stay with the original hotend and want to print higher temp material, you have to get better cooling and probably replace the PTFE tube with a capricorn tube
  • Better cooling: I replaced the hotend fan with a Noctua 5V fan that is powered from an external USB source (FYI: The mini limits the hotend fan to 40% in the FW, no way to solve this at the moment
  • Filament sensor holder (this helped me with the enclosure on how to feed the filament)
