Prusa Mini & Octoprint
Hi,
I am trying to use octoprint with my Mini but it doesn't work. When I hit connect I got the following message :
No more candidates to test, and no working port/baudrate combination detected.
I am 100% sure that it doesn't come from the Pi. I have tried it on my Mk3S and it works fine. Is it possible to check the status of the micro USB on the buddy bord?
I tried 3 different micro USB cable.
Thanks

What are your exact connection settings?

RE: Prusa Mini & Octoprint
Hi Chuck,
I just fixed it. I have couple of micro USB and only one is working (out of 6). I do not see any difference at the tip. The only difference is the length of the cable.
I have to keep that one safe and label it Prusa mini octoprint. 😀
Thanks.
RE: Prusa Mini & Octoprint
Obviously, length matters. I hav had some issues with settings also,

What is the length of your good cable? I'm using a 3 foot cable and it works fine.
RE: Prusa Mini & Octoprint
I am using 12 inch cables because they work. I had a 4 foot and it failed.

RE: Prusa Mini & Octoprint
Hi,
It is a very short one (150mm). The cable was delivered with a wireless mouse so nothing very specific about it.
The ones that failed are not longer than 1.5 meter.
Sorry guys, I do not use imperial.
Completely different subject but why can't I have access to the data in the USB stick while connected to octoprint?
On my MK3s I can print from the SD card and octoprint.
Am I missing something on my setup?

Hi, I have the same issue 🙁 Tried cables from 15 to 105 cm - approx. 6"-40") but no change, still getting "No more candidates to test, and no working port/baudrate combination detected." message. I'm using Pi Zero WH so I need microUSB-microUSB or microUSB-USB A with conversion...any recommendation to solve it? 😕
RE: Prusa Mini & Octoprint
Hi Jakub,
Changing the cable solved my issue. If you are sure about raspberry pi setup then I will suggest to test more cables.
If possible, try cables that are used for similar application and not something used to charge a power bank or toys.
You could probably ask PRUSA for more details, they might recommend some cables.
RE: Prusa Mini & Octoprint
Actualy I`m not realy sure about my setup. Do you have some tips what I have to check firstly?
RE: Prusa Mini & Octoprint
Hi,
Not really. There is a step by step and a video to help with the install.
Link below:

In my case I had a second printer (Mk3s) and the pi was working fine so I assumed it was either the prusa mini or the cable.
Do you have a second printer that is not a prusa mini?
RE: Prusa Mini & Octoprint
Thanks, I did it as shown so hopefully it is ok. I'll try more another cables.
I have only Prusa MINI+ printer at this moment.
RE: Prusa Mini & Octoprint
CableCreation Micro USB to Micro USB OTG Cable, Male to Male from Amazon is the one I used. But before it arrived, I ended up collecting all the USB to Micro USB cables (5 total) in the house and tried them. The one that worked was from my Kindle.
RE: Prusa Mini & Octoprint
I had the same issue when i set mine up. The issue is the cable there are two kinds of cable there is a receiving only and a dual receiving and sending cord. The later is a thicker cord most of the cords are the cheaper recieving only.
RE: Prusa Mini & Octoprint
Adding another data point, this is what I ordered and it's working with no problem: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07VF8JJ7J
Mini+ (kit) - Revo Micro | Antler Cooling | WiFi (4.4.0RC1)
RE: Prusa Mini & Octoprint
Thank you all, guys! The problem is solved by using "both way" cable.

What cable and length did you buy?
RE: Prusa Mini & Octoprint
I think it`s 100 cm (approx 39") but I my opinion it does not metter the lenght...most interesting is to be "both way". If you even buy "data USB cable" most of them work only the way from A connector to micro B because of micro B pins 4 and 5 are connected together. The both way cable has directly connected 1-5 to 1-5 wires.
I tyied micro B - micro B about 10" as well but it didn't work because of "source" and "target" ends of it...
Finaly I used this one: https://www.secomp.cz/default.asp?cls=stoitem&stiid=10808

Thanks. I think that is what I need. I'm checking on Amazon and I don't see anything that looks like the cable you are describing. I'm looking for about 1.5 ft (.5 m) in length
RE: Prusa Mini & Octoprint
Just look for “two way” cable
