wipe distance after retraction gets too short on solid layers

Hi,

I'm trying to minimise stringing on my new MINI+, printing PLA. Printing this model: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2450004/files

Turning on wipe after retraction and increasing retraction from 2.5 to 2.7 mm, eliminates stringing for layers without infill where wiping occurs on the entire perimeter. However, on layers with top solid infill, the nozzle travels from the circle centre directly to the other tower. This results in wiping only on the radius (I've confirmed this by reading the gcode), which isn't enough. I've tried it with different top solid layer count settings and the stringing changes accordingly. See the picture.

I haven't found any way to influence this behaviour. Is this expected? What else can I do? I'd prefer tweak this rather than retraction, temperature... as these will influence other things.
