Support layer in mid air when organic supports selected

I've been using organic supports exclusively for a while now because I find them so much easier to remove, and they seem to result in a nicer finish.

Then I tried to print this object (attached).  At 2.2 mm, there is a support "square" that gets generated almost without any connection below or to the sides.

Any idea what's wrong here?  Is this a setting I need to adjust?  I tried to slice and select a different support structure for the bottom 5.4 mm but that isn't an option (I guess I shouldn't be surprised).

(In the end I just chose snug support and it ended up OK - but then I didn't have supports for the edges of the holes).  PrusaSlicer 2.7.4 on MacOS Apple Si.

It’s a known issue. It has been reported multiple times on the Prusa Slicer GitHub. There is no known work around at this point. It seems to be a result of merging support structures as they ‘grow’. So changing settings can effect individual cases but it’s just as likely to express elsewhere and just move the problem to different areas.

Ok thank you!  I won’t waste any time with it then…
