Slicer 2.9.0 seam preview
Is there a seam preview function in Slicer 2.9.0 like there was in the past for seeing the seam placement once sliced? It used to be in bottom left corner with a couple other functions.
RE: Slicer 2.9.0 seam preview
Yes. There were quite a few more than 'a couple'. All of those options have been moved to the legend that appears once sliced. Look at the image here https://help.prusa3d.com/article/seam-position_151069#scarf-joint-placement
The legend that allows you to select various slice preview options has a series of icons along the bottom. Seam visibility is there. Along with travel, retractions etc. Its been there for quite a few versions now.

And yet, after all these years, PrusaSlicer is still not capable of remembering your preferred preview options 😩 You want to see seams? You'll have to reselect that option every time.

RE: Slicer 2.9.0 seam preview
The seam that appeared on my print did not show on the seam preview. How accurate is that function supposed to be?
RE: Slicer 2.9.0 seam preview
Very accurate. Post your saved Prusa slicer project file here as well as pics of the item printed from that same project if you think there’s an issue.
RE: Slicer 2.9.0 seam preview
I did not save the .3mf file. I only have the gcode. Will that work?
RE: Slicer 2.9.0 seam preview
Well the gcode can be loaded into the gcode viewer and will show where the seam positions are in the gcode yes. When compared to a pic of the part it would still allow a comparison.
RE: Slicer 2.9.0 seam preview
Yes, and it does show a seam that lines up with the print, but I also had a significant line on a curved surface that does not show in the preview or the model and is not a layer shift. That was my reasoning for asking how accurate it was. Pic in middle shows up on print, other pic shows no seam but print has what I think/thought was. I already did a little post processing.
RE: Slicer 2.9.0 seam preview
Sorry, cant really make out anything on the pics you have posted. The gcode preview ones are too small and as they are static we cant rotate around to see things from different angles (if the gcode was posted we could do so). But your object pic is also indistinct and its difficult to tell what is what.
For example is your problem with the line running horizontally ? If so then that isn't a seam. It looks like you have joined 2 parts together. If thats not the case than that layer looks like its had some form of under extrusion and/or filament jam. You need to look at your printer for those issues and not the slicer.
RE: Slicer 2.9.0 seam preview
First thing I thought when I saw that picture was layer shift, but yeah, not really clear what we're supposed to be looking at. I don't see anything seam related.

RE: Slicer 2.9.0 seam preview
Sorry, was trying to be discrete with the pics (the print is firearm related) and don't know what is or is not frowned on. The photo of the print is the area in concern. This is not a split in the part anywhere. Where slicer does show a seam, the print shows same seam and area. This mark I'm concerned about is only on one side so is not a layer shift. I did not take a pic prior to doing some post processing of that area. This is a newly built MK4S and I had no issue with first print(printing an MMU3 housing. I'm planning on doing another print of this part with some seam parameters changed and adding fuzzy skin for some texture....
Problems with Seam since Slicer 2.9.0
Hello everyone, I'm new here. I have been printing for 2 years and have been using the Prusa Slicer ever since. So far always without problems. Since the new update of the slicer, I have problems with my seams- I generally don't have a problem with the seam being visible on the back of the part. But recently it doesn't look good at all. Do you have any tips?
Picture 1: sliced before the update to 2.9.0 - very good seam
Picture 2: sliced with the new update - catastrophic seam
Image 3: Preview of the seam after the new update
I would also be happy to upload the G-code here if you can explain how to do this.
Many thanks and best regards
