Its a new setting in PS 2.4.
If you dont have it the check that you are in at least Advanced mode as its a yellow setting.
It is located in Print Settings>Support Material>Options for Support Material and Raft>Style

RE:

Thanks guys. I didn't click the drop down. Figured with it being as good as what everyone says it would be default selection. So same settings from Bobstro and run it?

Apologies I found the answer after I posted, as usual it was tight in front of my nose, which is why I usually ask my wife to hunt for stuff 🤓 The setting posted on here have really helped, including the snug settings, thanks all.

Hi!

Can someone post a pic of these settings. Mine don't line up, I'm thinking due to a newer build. Thanks! 😎

RE: PrusaSlicer hard to remove supports

I'm new to PS so please bear with me.

In the new PS, there are : top interface layers and bottom interface layers. According to bobstro, he recommended 4 interface layers. So is it correct when I choose 2 for top and 2 for bottom?

Could you please check the attached picture and let me know if I set correctly based on bobstro recommendation?

Sorry for asking but when you say "4 interface layers" do you mean 4 for top and 4 for bottom or just 4 for top or do you mean 2 for bottom and 2 for top?

RE: PrusaSlicer hard to remove supports

I've found, by trial and error, that the most critical parameter for using break-away supports is the Z distance.  .25 seems to be the sweet spot.

Any less and the support are more difficult to break away, any more and the results are significantly less visually appealing.

One trick is to be sure that the model is cool, near room temperature, when trying to remove the supports.

Do these settings work with PETG as well?

RE: PrusaSlicer hard to remove supports

My experience is yes, and break-away supports in PETg seem to leave fewer visual scars than those in PLA or ABS.

And I alter a few more settings:

4 interface layers

3-4mm support spacing

75-125% xy distance

Thanks for the reply.  Would you mind sharing a screenshot of all the settings you use?  I believe the settings would work for PLA, PETG and ABS?

RE: PrusaSlicer hard to remove supports

Probably the slicer settings are changed over the years and i can't find exact setting name under support material.

Most settings are grey if i don't select "generate support layer" (but then i will have support always) or if i don't put a number in raft layers.

Can someone help a novice with an updated or easy to follow advice?

Thanks in advance!

Hello R2D 3D

can you save a project file for your model so that we can see what you are wanting to support, then we can give you more appropriate ideas.
the project file needs to be zip compressed, before you can attach it to the post.

regards Joan
