PrusaSlicer bridging direction setup?

Hello, i tried to slice special object in PrusaSlicer (2.20), and I got weir results, the bridging direction is across the longer side of hole.

Can I change bridging direction somehow to bridge on shorter side, which makes more sense?

Yes you can.  Its an advanced setting so you must be in advanced or expert mode to see it.  Its under Print>Infill>Advanced>Bridging angle.  Zero is automatic but if you set it to 180 then that's the same as zero degrees.

Bridging angle is global but you can use modifiers and set different angles to different spots using those.

This one threw me too.

It's almost as if it tries to do the long way.

And, you really need to watch for cases where it may do that.

RE: PrusaSlicer bridging direction setup?

Did this happen even with the "Detect bridging perimeters" set to on?

Have a look at my models on Printables.com 😉

It's my impression that the 'detect bridging perimeters' has more to do with overhangs than bridges.  Am I missing something here?

Not sure what it exactly does, it is still marked as an experimental setting. Sometimes when PS is using standard solid infill over holes it helps turning this option on and a bridge is used instead. My impression was that it also optimized the bridging direction to keep bridge distance short, but I could be wrong.

Thank you Neophyl!

I missed that option, even I was looking for it before I started thread!
