I guess "prime into infill" (or a dedicated object) is always an option for zero waste.

That the nozzles need some minimal priming after re-heating to stabilize flow is totally expected.

We'll just put some bleachers out in the sun-And have it on Highway 61

RE: Update...(Kind of)

Well, I just placed an order for the 8 tool upgrade kit (since I’m not a founder). I didn’t expect the general release to be so soon after the founder’s edition order deadline. I thought it was going to be somewhere in Fall this year. So I’m pretty happy. The blog message is a little confusing since it says the first batch starts (/is expected to start) shipping in June, but then later on they also say August?

Also, I’ll still need to order the 0.25 mm and 0.8 mm nozzles I want. Prusa currently doesn’t offer them, and they aren’t available on Bondtech’s website either. Let’s see where they pop up first!

Also, for those who ordered the founder’s edition and want the new fence, perhaps you can contact Prusa and ask to swap these around in case your order hasn’t shipped yet? Doesn’t hurt to try and ask.

The updated steel front plate is supposed to become available on the Prusa site.  No word on how much.  Changed parts will be on Printables.

Mate nothings shipped yet.

Theres absolutely zero point in contacting them, they want us to pay for the new front plate.

RE:
  • Founders Editions are shipping throughout May and the plastic parts will be entirely SLS printed (nozzle tool heads, docks, print head covers)
  • The material is PA12-GF
  • Prusa Edition (production) early units will still be SLS printed as they transition to injection molding.
  • If you have the Founder's Edition and want the new fence, have to pay for it (when available)

It seems that the LED bar is now installed well below the nozzle tips -- and hence below the bed surface during the early layers. Have Prusa shared any pictures what observing the first layer will look like? Will it be printed in the dark?

What’s the general consensus amongst founders. I’m on holidays with my family and don’t have time to digest all this 😂 looks like a decent savings with the caveat of a shit front plate? Oh and the fact that they are taking preorders before any founders have shipped

The first orders of this batch are expected to start shipping in June but the last orders of this batch won't ship until sometime in August due to the limited production capability, I would suspect this actually means that Bondtech are limiting what they sell to Prusa so that they can fulfil their own orders, so hopefully things will improve as Bondtech ramp up production.

Regarding the relative merits of Founders Edition vs. regular Prusa version, yes, I think that's it. No real news on the "absolute" merits, functionality and performance, besides the tidbit that full spectrum printing has been implemented in EasyPrint (but not in PrusaSlicer yet?).

Now I'd love to hear from bondtech what the new bill of materials for the founders edition is going to be.
from the picture published on their web site I am missing

  • the eddy sensor board
  • the wastebin with the nozzle wiper and the holder "handle"
  • the auto open/close for the vent grill

are we "founders" getting those? Also a shipping updat le, for what's worth, would be nice to have too...

RE: Update...(Kind of)

So, I'm happy that Prusa have announced orders for retail/production versions, there some interesting information surfacing about the dynamics of INDX, and progress is always good.

What's not something to be happy about, is that fence! FFS that new version of the part could surly be pushed through production to Founders? Unless Founders are getting their orders very soon, as in they're packed and ready to ship?! But I've not had a mail saying as such from Bondtech, anyone else?

I'm also going to be interested in what nozzle options are going to be offered from Prusa. Anyone who bagged a reservation have any info on this? I don't want it to be true, but I can envisage the nozzle mix and match setup being offered to retail buyers, which would really annoy me.

Maybe Bondtech will still find the time to print a new plaque for the Founders Edition, to be attached to the fence:

Someone at Prusa thought this was adequate.

🤣🤣🤣 I'd actually be happy to pay for that 😅

RE:

I would appreciate the plaque to be a bit more than the "founders edition" inscription on the fence... a "x of 1500" kind of thing would be cool. Another item for the BOM 😂

How about "x of 1500 1256". That would be a really interesting piece of information. 😉

Maybe I'm out of touch on this, because it seems the general consensus on reddit and that sewer Discord is that founders should be happy with having the option of buying the new faceplate 😂 My gut feeling is that's just a lot of salty people who missed out on the founders edition though.

Generally speaking I'm pretty pleased with what we'll be getting for our money, I'll see how I get on with the anti fun fence but I can see me (extremely begrudgingly) buying the new part at some point.

The retail price increase isn't small, but they've apparently sold 95% of the first retail batch already in what is only 6-8 hrs, so they're not scaring people off with the increase.

I can forgoe the fencing fail, as I have just read the price of the 8T retail compared to FE and it's a decent difference......but c'mon I need something to moan about 😅

Genuinely excited now, I'm just glad you lot are here to help me when something goes wrong with the FE's 😅

RE: Update...(Kind of)

I mean, when I look at the price of replacement parts of the C1 exoskeleton, the left and right side panels cost 24€ each , with the longer corner profiles costing 12.5€. I could image the improved fence costing like 20-24€, that really wouldn't be much
