Organic supports with gaps

Hello all,

I am having an issue at various times where organic supports leave a gap between the layers.  I have included a few screenshots.

I am not sure if this is a bug or a setting as I have not had to really mess with the default organic support settings before.  Any help is very much appreciated.

@gminnick

Adjust your support settings, and don't rely on the default settings, there is a lot to learn there, start playing with the settings to lean it.

It is possible to exceed reasonable limits, this is possible because not every model has the same needs, if you play with the settings one at a time, you will begin to understand what each setting does, and you will be able to control within reason how the supports act, this has been posted time and time again on github by persons that didn't take the time to learn how to use the organic supports.

Good luck, and have fun, it's a learning experience.

Regards

Thanks for being so kind in your reply.  I just played around with the settings.  It seems changing the Branch Diameter or Max Branch Angle does the trick.  It moves them away from the model which before these changes were helping to support it.  It is an Iron Man mask and so it is printing vertical.  The print still worked out even with the gaps as it eventually recovered.  So maybe a balance of having a small a gap as possible while maintaining support.

It is great to have people with patience on these forums.  I should have played around with the settings more before posting.  Thanks very much for your advice and direction.

I'm happy to hear you were able to work through this. As your time allows, you may find that returning to this project and playing around with the support settings even more, will help to advance your working knowledge of supports. The combinations are infinite, and can also be changed greatly by the use of support blockers & enforcers. using the same model to practice on gives a great base line for the experience you gain when playing.

Have fun
