MMU2s-Prusa Slicer- Problem with using Filaments with Different Melt temperatures

When the print nozzle moves to the wipe block, the nozzle temperature immediately changes to the next filament nozzle temperature.    This makes it very difficult to calibrate or tweak the retraction.  Using Hydrofill for support (235C) and PLA (210C).  Any advice?

Hi,

I developed an enhanced version of PRUSASLICER 2.0.0 (that I called Community Edition Version or simply CE) and I adopted a different strategy:

  • I added a new filament parameter that is the temperature to have during MMU tool change to have perfect shape arrow.
  • as soon as, at the end of the colour print (not between layers), the tool moves to the wipe tower area, and I bring the nozzle temperature to the new "Change Tool temperature", and let it work doing a perfect shape movements. This temperature may be higher or lower than the normal print temperature.
  • Then I unload the filament.
  • With empty nozzle, I bring the temperature to the next filament printing temperature.
  • When the new filament temperature is reached, I load the new filament into the nozzle.
  • Then I go to the wipe tower to complete the colour wiping with the new colour.

Regards

This sounds awesome.  Where can I download it to try?  Thank you, John Tucker

RE: MMU2s-Prusa Slicer- Problem with using Filaments with Different Melt temperatures

Hello friends,

in the past days I discover that someone else developed exactly the same thing, and I don't want to get credits for other people innovation 😊

It exists a modified version of PrusaSlicer called SKINNYDIP, that does exactly what I have done in mine. In addition it has a lot of others interesting parameters to improve the filament quality (see picture).  😀
I downloaded it from GitHub and I had to compile it, since there are no ready executable to download.  I have tested today, and it seems to work  well. Now it is a matter to discover the exact parameter for each filament manufacturer I have.
You see here the new section in the Filament Advanced

At this point I will discontinue my version, since now it is redundant.

I will continue to test this on my MMU2, and I will contribute to improve this version (the power of open source) 😉

The GitHub is: https://github.com/domesticatedviking/PrusaSlicer.git
