Help change configuration folder to single location for users on multiuser machine
I have a printing lab full of prusa's at my work. We teach people how to print and then have them design and print new things for our manufacturing floor to improve all sorts of stuff 🙂 The problem I have is that when we get a new filament that does not have a default setting or even when it does, each person (some very new to printing) has to go update all their settings on our shared computers. Each person has their own log in and even between shared computers, they have to re-set up their configurations. Can someone help? I just want one setting that I save on the machine that EVERYONE automatically can access. The software is shared, but the config is saving under their user profile settings.

There are several existing threads about this in this very forum. There is no built in way in PS to do this. Although the feature has been requested on the PS github, several times. As you can see there have been many threads about this topic. There's probably more as that was just the top hits. Read through some of the suggestions there and use the one best suited to your situation. Also go add your support to the github request(s). They might get added in the next 10 years or so - maybe.
Help > Show Configuration Folder will show you the directory with all your presets.
You can either symlink this to somewhere central on your network or symlink (some of) the directories within it.

Does that work when the username is unknown for the directory? from my google search seems like its static

You may need root priviledge to set it up. Check with your sysops.

Where you able to find a fix for that?
In the lab space I work at (University Makerspace), we get new users coming all the time and we don't want to be setting up all the default printer settings everytime a new user comes in AND when they use a different computer
Have your sysops look through the threads listed by @neophyl and pick one that fits your system and requirements.
