A skirt/brim was added to my project. What step added it, how do I prevent it?

I'm a beginner that just made my first print of a tutorial design from Fusion 360. I exported as STL from Fusion 360 and imported the STL into Prusa Slicer. Now in Prusa Slicer there is what I think is called a skirt or brim added (the green outline in the image below). I do not have brim option enabled in main window in Prusa Slicer. Where did this brim come from? Is it added on STL export from Fusion 360 or has Prusa Slicer added it? What are these brims for and how can I disable this "auto brim" feature?

Best Answer by JoanTabb:

This green line is confusingly called a skirt, it is added by the slicer as a default, you can choose not to add it or to make it thicker

I tend to make mine thicker, so they are easier to remove.

the Skirt shows you where the print will be placed, and primes the nozzle. before starting a print.

The skirt option is only visible in prusa slicer in advanced mode, or expert mode

Thanks. I'm assuming the printer will print in the middle of the bed if that's what I set it to do so I wouldn't know why I'd need to have it show me that, but priming the nozzle does make sense so I'll just let Slicer do it for priming purposes.

I had an incident with My Textured build plate and scraped the texture off, in the middle area of my bed, so If I want a textured finish on my model, I print off center.

the skirt is a target notification for me...
🙂

I am a cheapskate, I could also use the other side of the build plate...

🙂
