.gcode to image?

Hello,

Is there a way to have PSlicer open a .gcode file and show the results... I was looking for a way to just view a part/image of the printed part from the .gcode. I found a few online viewers but I've gotten mixed results from them.

Regards.

There is currently no way to view the gcode in PS. As you have already found, there are several online viewers. S3d would be another option.

Take a look at this post: https://forum.prusa3d.com/forum/original-prusa-i3-mk3s-mk3-general-discussion-announcements-and-releases/anyone-know-of-a-gcode-viewer-that-can-show-the-object-dimensions/#post-199256

RE: .gcode to image?

There is an application out there called Voxelizer which will supposedly convert .gcode files to .stl files and, of course, view them.

I downloaded it a while ago and installed it, but when I launched it, it wanted me to log in (to an off-line application?) or create an account, so I gave up with it.  If I really need it I'll create an account with a throw-away email.

I gave the Gcode-Analyzer a try, but it only seems to work online. The downloaded copy to run it locally (from thingiverse) doesn't seem to work.

I did reach out to jweaver (from that post you mentioned) to see if he had any further success.

Thanks for your reply! 🙂

@jsw

I connected .gcode to my CAMotics software and it kinda does what I was looking for. It's probably enough for me to distinguish one version/file from another if I know what I'm looking for. A ".gcode to image" kind'a seems like an easy thing (coming from a non-programmer). Maybe one day. I did find an Google/Android program called Graphite - STL/GCode Viewer, but it's only for Android. Yes I could run a Android emulator in windows, but that seems excessive. But it does look to be what I'd like to have.

RE: .gcode to image?

Am i correct that you want some software where you can load a sliced gcode file in and that will then show you a visualisation of the finished output ?

If so Prusa used to have some software called Prusa Control which could do that.  The defunct webpage is here https://help.prusa3d.com/en/article/prusacontrol_2217

It looks like you can download it still from their github repository here https://github.com/prusa3d/PrusaControl/releases

@neophyl

That is perfect! When I opened it for the first time... it tried to get me to update to the latest prusa slicer! 🙂

Thank you!

Thank you.  I'll download and try it when I get some time later tonight.

Well, it's just about what I wanted... it will only let me see one layer at a time. I can turn on individual layers and get a good visual for what I need; it's enough for the moment.

Pronterface is an essential tool in my 3D printing arsenal. It's free, open-source. licensed under the GNU GPL3. The application features g-code preview and manipulation.
