Filament usage per layer?

Feature I missed today: My printer ran out of filament. No problem, Prusa handles filament runout greatly. But: It was on layer 280/344. I have a spools end, and I know it has 12g filament on it. Is this enough to finish the print?

The slicer calculates filament usage already. To do so, it needs to calculate it layer by layer. It would be nice, if this info would be available. There is probably not room on the LCD for this, but cold the slicer ruler show it?

RE: Filament usage per layer?

Hi.  This is mainly a user to user forum.  If you want to make feature requests or report an issue then that needs to be done at the official prusa github project.  The Prusa Slicer one is located here https://github.com/prusa3d/PrusaSlicer/issues

There are currently over 2300 open issues.  Before opening a new one please do a search of both open AND closed ones with as many possible related keywords to see if one already exists.

You can sort of do what you want already in the slicer anyway.  If you had the project saved and you know the layer where you ran out (which you do) then you can slice it, add a colour change at that layer and re-slice. The preview would then show you how much filament was needed of each colour.  As your "colour change" is at the layer where it stopped then the top colour would be how much in grams was needed to complete the print.

Thank you! The clever workaround you suggested is good; the issue doesn't come that often.
