Copying default system presets to physical printer?

Hi,

My printer is a Printer: Mini+ and I am using Prusaslicer 2.5.0

I have created a physical printer in PrusaSlicer, with my WiFi settings etc.

But the presets that are in it are just the 4 finest "0.05mm ULTRADETAIL", "0.07mm UTRADETAIL" etc.  Probably because I selected the 0.25mm nozzle when I initially set it up.

How can I copy all of the normal system defaults from the default pack to this printer?

I have tried to export using "Export Config.." but they just appear into another printer in the System presets, and not into my Physical printer.

How can I make this happen?

Ideally, I would like to have all settings from the 0.4mm and the 0.025mm nozzle in the same Physical printer, and then change the nozzle in those settings to 0.25mm - (I have noticed that in reality, the nozzle size has a very small impact on printing speed, so I would just like to have the "default" settings but changed to with nozzle of 0.25mm)

You have to create a new physical printer with the different nozzle size.

Thanks, but while I can do that, after I change the nozzle diameter to 0.25mm, the whole stack of the settings from .015mm disappears, and I am back to where I started.

I just want the default stack of settings changed from 0.4mm to 0.25mm.

(In my personal experience (YMMV), the nozzle size has really the least impact on the print time and quality so I just want the default settings with the nozzle changed so I do not have to swap the nozzle over from when I am printing something for the house or for toys.)

Just more note:

You see if I change the default settings from 0.4mm to 0.25mm nozzle, then PrusaSlicer JUMPS OUT of my physical printer and into a new one; which means I cannot print over WiFi.

I just want to copy the whole stack of system presets into my Physical Printer and change the settings there 🤯

If it needs to be done in Finder using .ini files, then so be it, but the default settings are nowhere to be found to be copied over.

I'm not sure I'm totally following you. Here's an example of one of my printers. Four nozzle configs, but all pointing to the same Wifi (actually ethernet) IP address.

🙂 Fair enough.

OK, so, my actual printer, lets call it "Oscar" (because "Physical Printer" is a name used in the system) has a .25mm nozzle.

These are the settings available to it:

That is because those are the only default settings available with a 0.25mm nozzle.

That is fine, that is understood etc.

However:

If I default to the normal printer: (System Presets) I have the full stack of options available:

I want all of those to be in my "Physical Printer" BUT with the nozzle changed to 0.25mm

RE:

That sounds right.  The 0.25 nozzle installation of a mk3 has 4 print profiles available, ranging from 0.05, 0.07, 0.1 and 0.15.  The 0.4mm nozzle mk3 has 8 profiles available, the 0.6mm nozzle printer has 5 preset print profiles, and the the 0.8mm nozzle has only 3 (0.3, 0.4 and 0.55).  That's normal.

That has zero to do with physical printers.
Its just the profiles that prusa provides FOR EACH NOZZLE SIZE.  You want extras then you create your own.  For example recommended Max layer height is 75% of the nozzle width so with your 0.25 nozzle you don't really want to be printing layers thicker than 0.18mm which explains why the biggest print profile is for 0.15mm.  Those profiles aren't the same between nozzles even if the layer height target is the same, the extrusion widths and a bunch of other settings will be different for each nozzle.

Its the same way that different filament profiles are available for the same printer but different nozzles.  The wood based ones arent available for the 0.25mm nozzle etc.  Theres even differences with the same nozzle but for MMU / non MMU printers.

As Neo said. Just copying a profile over and only changing the nozzle size is not a good idea.
