Changing settings after slicing no longer prompts to re-slice (Slice Now)

Hello:

V2.4.0 & 2.4.1 on Win 10

Changing a setting after slicing (i.e. Infill %), the project stays sliced and you cannot re-slice unless you make a dramatic change like add/delete an instance of the model.

If your sure you've changed the setting meaning it doesn't match a setting already set in another area "Infill" for example, can be set in at least 4 different places 5 if your using different modifiers, and can cause this to appear just like a bug, but is not. there is a bug that causes this also however, I've been dealing with it for some time now.

Try hitting Ctrl+5 then Ctrl+R to force re-slice and if that doesn't work my go to is to change a perimeter amount number, say you want 2 perimeters, but you need a re-slice and it won't, just click the spinner to 1 perimeter then back to 2 and the slice now should activate.

welcome to PrusaSlicer 2.4.0 and the 2.4.1 bEta, they are very buggy.

Good luck

Tried that, nothing changes. Still stays 'stuck' as having been sliced. As I said, forcing a new instance and then deleting it will bring it back. Most changes won't. Seems to not be picking up on any user changes after slicing. It's been doing this since the earliest betas leading up to 2.4. I was hoping someone would notice.

Are you sure the application isn't stuck, mine freezes on me constantly, sometimes switching to show desktop for a second or two will free it up and then it will change, also take this as a sigh that you should save your work before the program crashes, I've learned my lesson about that one.

Nope, never stuck, just have to twiddle with major things like adding/deleting an instance to bring that button back to 'Slice Now'. It's a pain.

I know it's of no help but just for the record I'm not seeing any of this with the MacOS version.

Yeah, For me slicer2.4.0 and up, freezes and crashes often, I also experience what your talking about, at least once a week, I haven't been able to get it to stop, it's a struggle to use, we have only been trying to keep up with it, in case it should become usable in the future, but are still having to use 2.3.3 for our work load.

If I come up with anything else that, I think might help I'll post here for you.

Good Luck

Same here. And I noticed that many of the bug fixes with 2.4.1 were Windows specific.

I'm having the same problem in version 2.6.0

Occasionally the Slice option comes back but usually once sliced if I make changes then I have to close and reopen the program. I'll report this as a bug. I did change the .ini file manually afterwards and then for 5 or 6 tries I had the option to re-slice and then it just stopped again.
