Printer making clicking noises and not printing

Hello all,

I am having an issue with my Prusa Core printer.  It keeps making this clicking noise and jamming.  I just installed a new print tip today and on the first real print, I see this issue come up again.    https://youtube.com/shorts/uvFyY0N98uM?feature=share

It has been suggested to me that this might be a fan issue.  The reason being is that there is this time and a previous time where the filament just jammed on me in the middle of a 2+hr print job.

What do I need to do to start troubleshooting this issue?

This is most likely a nozzle clog caused by heat creep. Need a lot more information. What kind of filament are you using? Is it dry? What size nozzle are you using? Is the top vent open? Have you tried a cold pull?

I am using PLA Prusa Galaxy Black.

I would assume it is dry since I opened the seal just last week.

I am using the: "Genuine E3D Diamondback Prusa Nozzle for MK4/XL/CoreOne - 0.4mm" nozzle.

I managed to break the top panel a while ago and it is either on or off depending on the day.

I tried a cold pull but it did not budge.

Never assume a filament is dry even if it's been freshly opened. I always my filaments in a dryer first immediately after opening.

When you say "break the top panel" do you mean the vent on the top? Is it opened or closed? It must be open when printing PLA. Also, try leaving the door open.

I do not have a dryer for filament.  Guess I have to get one.

Mine is having the same issue right now and I am trying to figure it out. I found the source of the clicking sound, the gears won't spin properly:

Make sure the cover is not on too tight or it can cause the gears to bind. Also, run the gearbox calibration next.

OK. I guess that counts as "open" 🤣

This is only going to be a problem if printing PC or ASA.
