new build only one z motor working

I checked the splitter board, everything plugged in correctly

self test fails after lots of noise!

I disabled the motors and checked that all three z screws turn manually and raise and lower the bed correctly

tried Move Axis

only one is turning

advice please?

For any troubleshooting with a new printer or a new build go to Prusa Support via chat.  You will need your printer's serial number.

Cheerio,

RE: new build only one z motor working

One thing you can try yourself before contacting support is to ensure that there is no tension in the Z drive due to misaligned nuts on the three lead screws.

With the heat bed in the bottom position, loosen the six M3 screws which hold the three black trapezoidal nuts. (Two screws per nut.) This lets the nuts settle in a lateral position which is consistent with the position defined by the (non-adjustable) smooth rods. Then tighten the six screws again -- do not overtighten; you don't want to distort the plastic nuts.

Many users have also found that the lead screws benefit from a bit of grease. Running them dry can result in nasty "groaning" noises when the heat bed moves over longer distances. The grease that came with the printer kit is fine for this purpose.
