CORE One vs One+ (upgrade and first time assembly)

I purchased a CORE One and an MMU3 Enclosed (for CORE One) Kit as an XMAS present, and then shortly after the CORE One+ and the INDX upgrade were announced. Bad timing I guess, but oh well. Still very excited.

But have a few questions:

  1. If I get the CORE One+ upgrade, Should I first assemble the CORE One and then do the upgrade? Or just assemble everything with the upgrade in one go from the start?
  2. Does the CORE One+ upgrade still work with MMU3 enclosed kit? I believe so, and think that if in the future I added INDX nozzle swapping then one of the nozzles could also have the MMU3 feeding it. Is that right? I haven’t dug too deep on this yet.
  3. in general, do you think it’s worth doing the CORE One+ upgrade right now? Or should I just wait and get the base CORE One going?

  1. Build the Core One first, then download the Core One+ parts from Printables and print them for free. OK, minus the filament cost. You'll need PC-CF, ABS or ASA to print the vent opener. HT PLA could work also. Otherwise, get the upgrade kit and build it together.
  2. I highly doubt the MMU3 would be compatible with the INDX since the MMU3 demultiplexes into a single output.
  3. The Core One+ upgrade is quick and easy so you can certainly wait until after you build the Core One.

oh awesome. I hadn’t realized the CORE One+ upgrade parts were available and all of them printable. Thanks!

re: the MMU3 support with INDX, I realize the INDX nozzles are multiplexed. Since each nozzle has its own PTFE tube for filament, I figured it was possible to feed one nozzle’s tubes using the MMU3 and then that one nozzle would have multiple filaments from the MMU3, while the other nozzles each just have one filament. Once you have INDX upgrade, that wouldn’t be super useful. Just curious though

Very unlikely MMU will work alongside the INDX system. Two separate concepts.

Personally I would bolt on the Core One+ parts during the original build. As its just the top vent opener and the side filament sensor, there's not much to it.....
