Calibration issues - door sensor and filament sensor

My Core One went together easily enough, but I'm having trouble getting through calibration and am not excited by the prospect of tearing it apart again to re-examine the relevant parts so I'm hoping there's an easier solution.

My door sensor: No matter what I do, the calibration test tells me to tighten the screw on the door sensor. I can hear it clicking when I open and close the door, and have tightened it as far as it will go, but it still wants more. What's going on?

Filament sensor: This one actually surprises me; not only does the filament sensor not recognize filament, but I can't actually load filament without removing the small piece of tubing leading into the handle, and even then it's super-fiddly.

Apart from that, I'm[ pretty happy. Just hope there's a way to solve these issues without much disassembly (and a lot more nylon rivets!)

RE: Calibration issues - door sensor and filament sensor

Door sensor: Sounds like a bad electrical connection?

Filament sensor: Please take it out again -- yes, that's slightly annoying... Open the lid of the sensor package and take a close look at the little lever. Can it move freely, and does the magnet push it back? Can it still move freely once you put on the lid? (Try by inserting a piece of filament.) The magnet which gets inserted into the lever must not stick out too far at the top, otherwise it will rub against the lid.

Thanks, Jürgen. I'll try that tomorrow. I'll also see if I can detect any electrical activity in the door sensor.

Door sensor is detecting open/closed according to the info screen. I'll back it all the way out and start again.

I had the same thing during the first wizard door sensor calibration. I unscrewed the bolt and pushed the sensor back (important as it does not move back on its own). Then with the sensor info screen open, I went to that it just detected that the door was closed. Once there I ran the calibration for the door again, and it passed immediately without adjustment.

So the door sensor seems to be fundamentally working -- great!

If I recall correctly, there is a calibration wizard for the door sensor which tries to make sure that the sensor already acts when the door is opened just a little. (Makes you put in your hand to open it just a few cm or so?) Might it be that you just misread its sequence of instructions? I don't recall the details, but they seemed slightly counter-intuitive at the time I think.

When I repeat the test by hand, it shows open when the door is open, closed when it's closed, and closed when my hand is between the door and the frame, so I don't know why it wants me to tighten the screw, which would only show the door as closed when it's further ajar, right?

They're definitely counter-intuitive, and the directions seem backward if it wants to detect open when the door is slightly ajar.

I adjusted it using the sensor output to where it showed open when ajar and closed when closed, repeated the calibration and now it works. Only the filament sensor to do, and that's too much for today. 🙂

RE:

I'm not sure what door sensor status they want to see with the finger in the door. Should it already report as closed then, or still as open? Maybe try both settings; one hopefully will make the wizard happy...

Anyway, you will probably find that you disable the door sensor (in the UI) in practical operation. One sometimes wants to reach in, e.g. to remove a piece of debris one has spotted, and I don't see a need to interrupt the print in that situation. You can still hit "Pause" on the screen if that's what you actually need...

Edit: Ah, I see that you just got it aligned -- great! Agree, best to start with the filament sensor after a rest; don't rush it. Good night!
