print fan rpm test failing

I just finished assembling the XL multi-tool.  Immediatley after starting the self tests, the print fan rpm test fails with no diagnostic information.  I can see both fans spinning on the 2 tool changers.  I'm new to all this so I'm not sure what I should be looking at.  I'm pretty sure I assembled everything correctly.  My firmware is 6.2.6.

Does anyone have any suggestions how to resolve this?

RE: print fan rpm test failing

This is a common issue, i executed the test on my XL yesterday and all five print fan rpm tests failed.
After digging a bit in the internet, i've noticed that prusa recommends to remove the fan shrouds during the test and add it again afterwards.
https://help.prusa3d.com/article/selftest-failed-xl-multi-tool_686941

Here is a good video example of it, this fixed the issue for me and the test finished successful

Hope this helps, best regards

RE: print fan rpm test failing

I had exactly the same issue this weekend after installing a new dwarf board. I found if you switch the fan type from black to silver the hotend fan will pass. I then tested with out a shroud and found that the print fan will pass that way, but I read of someone else using a hoover to help increase the fan speeds so I put that at the nozzle and it worked.

Hope that helps. I eamiled tech support cause it seems the support team are off this weekend, (maybe getting ready for next weeks reveals)

All the best

RE: print fan rpm test failing

Just wanted to confirm, what Walsercl suggested worked for me as well. I recently built the 5TH. It passed everything on startup, but after the recent update in firmware (6.4.0+11974), it wanted me to run the tests again. The print fan test failed on TH's 1,2,3, & 5. Took all the shrouds off and ran it again. All passed.

Thanks for the fix!

RE: print fan rpm test failing

Hello All:
Just finished assembly on XL 5 Head. First Test - Print Fan RPM Failure - first time, just head 1 and 4. 2nd time: All fail but 3. Third time: All Fail.

Removed Fan Shrouds and still Fails.. Brand new firmware upgrade: 6.2.6

Wow, just wow. Really disappointed

Same here. I removed all the shrouds and most fans continue to fail the test. Every test may have a different result of which fan passed, but most fail every test.

You should get in contact with Prusa support (live chat). I had to repeat the test about 10 times and (magically, without changing anything), all fans passed.

RE: print fan rpm test failing

It's on my list for today. I've tested no less than 30 times with different results >85% of the time. The most consistent fan test is the single extruder that was not part of the upgrade kit. It has the black fan. The others are from the upgrade kit (5 extruder kit) with the silver fans. They will randomly pass or fail in any sort of order. Sadly, they've all passed at one point or another. The closest I got was 4 of 5 fans passing, but that was one time; otherwise, I've had no more than 2 or 3 fans pass for any given test. I've removed the shrouds and ensured there's nothing blocking. I've adjusted the tightness of the screws holding the fan housings in place. I'll test a few more times this morning (mostly because I hate not having a completed calibration test), but I suspect I'm just going to have to go forward without finishing fan calibration.

Kijk even welke kleur ventilatoren je hebt, waarschijnlijk zilver.

Dan moet je de configuratie even bijstellen.
