Extruder assembly instructions

I had a catastrophic print failure and my extruder got all blobbed up with plastic. To remove the blob I had to unplug the heater and thermistor, and disassemble the extruder. I now have my replacement parts and want to put it back together.  I see the docs for attaching the extruder to the machine, but don't see the docs for assembling the extruder itself. I'd rather follow some steps than try to wing it.

I am also a bit disappointed that there's no way to get the printer to boot with a missing tool. I've been down all week, when I should have been able to print with just tool #2

RE:

i was looking for instructions as well and it looks like they have not published them.

i used the mk4 as a guide and looking at the the other 4 extruders i have

https://help.prusa3d.com/guide/5-nextruder-assembly_434014

on my pre-assembled extruders i found issues. extra hardware that fell inside during assembly, loose screws, junk stuck to the magnets.

when my machine failed the initial fan tests that was when i went in and started to take apart the extruders and see what was going on.

RE: Extruder assembly instructions

just something to think about.

prusa printed all the extruder parts in PETG, very poorly.

when i rebuilt mine i reprinted all the ducts and nozzles from Prusa PC Blend. which also has a higher melting point.

there are now reported issues with the filament tension arm as it can warp over time and relax and no longer hold the filament with the correct pressure against the gear.

Yeah, I think the tension arm on extruder #2 is starting to warp on mine.  Something to think about indeed.
I'd pay a few $ for someone to mill some of the more critical parts out of aluminum.

The good news is I've got the extruder assembled and working.
