RE: Upgrade path from MK3.5 to MK4

I can see what he left that out.  This cost of the parts in total makes that cost prohibitive for the repair kit.

@cwbullet: do you have a suggestion on how to achieve an escalation towards management at prusa? So far I have been blocked or put off by first-level support.

I would recommend making post as response to blog entries, Facebook, YouTube, and maybe PMs to prusa staff on the forum.  Emailing the CEO is unlike to get a response.  CEOs probably get 1000s of emails a day.  You can try that but is is unlikely to be successful.  I hope I am wrong.

I figured when I picked the 3.5, prusa would allow me to upgrade further when I'm ready and so far this seems lacking still.

Hello,

thank you for your email. Currently, we are not planning on releasing an upgrade from MK3,5 to MK4, but we are collecting the feedback and if there is a demand, we will release it

we are checking the forum as well. At this moment, we have not yet decided if we release it or not. It might be a part of a future upgrade. You can subscribe to the newsletter. That way, we can let you know

@CatEye:

Take comfort, the same thing happened to me. 459 EURO proceeds from 1 bidder. Sad!

It was strange that an MK3S+ kit was auctioned at the same time and brought in 600 EURO. The bidders obviously did not recognize the advantages of the MK3.5.

But I am glad that I switched to the MK4, as the possibility of an update from MK3.5 to MK4 is up in the air.

No more problems with the first layer with different steel sheets. No more problems with the suboptimal adaptation of the MK3.5-firmware.

RE: Upgrade path from MK3.5 to MK4

There is something I don't understand about upgrading from mk3.5 to mk3.9.

All parts of 3.5 and 3.9 are the same and the only difference is the Nextruder.

Shouldn't I simply replace the Nextruder of 3.9 or mk4 with an upgrade kit?

I wonder why they don't provide an upgrade path from 3.5 to 3.9.

I am also satisfied with upgrading to 3.5 at a low price, but I am willing to pay for Nextruder if I can upgrade.

RE:

I am with you, would buy the upgrade from the 3.5 to 3.9 or 4.0 straight away if available. I am keeping my fingers crossed. I purchased the MK4 after upgrading my MK3s to the 3.5, but found the advantages of the mk4 well and truly worth it over the 3.5 Hopefully there will be an upgrade available soon.

RE: Upgrade path from MK3.5 to MK4

I have pointed out to them that if they took a 3s+to mk4 upgrade kit and just removed the parts that make up the 3.5 upgrade kit they would have a 3.5 to mk4 upgrade kit and a 3s+ to 3.5 upgrade kit. However i was told that it wasn't as simple as that. I can see it would be more difficult to break a kit down but  while they were packing the parts all the 3.5 bits go in one box all the 3.5 to mk4 in another box. I really dont see the problem. its not like they are being left with unsaleable parts.

From their why buy a prusa printer page

"If you buy our 3D printer, you can upgrade it later to the new version, no need to buy a new model."

Bit of a joke in light of you cant upgrade the 3.5

RE: Upgrade path from MK3.5 to MK4

New user of a 3.5 here, I bought the upgrade from the 3s+ because I wanted the speed upgrade but I couldn’t afford a mk4 upgrade and I’m really disappointed in finding out that I screwed myself by doing that, it’s absurd how it’s impossible to separate the mk4 upgrade kit into two like @clinton-2 mentioned before, especially now that the mk4s has released and I’m stuck with something that I either sell or keep it like this. Prusa should really get this stuff sorted out because I don’t really see how this can be so difficult to do

RE: Upgrade path from MK3.5 to MK4

I just speak with support and they confirmed that you can build a Nextruder with the parts that they sell in the store (some are missing now, like the motor extruder, but it will be available soon). I think if we are patient we can upgrade our MK3.5 to MK4 soon.

Hope this helps

I can't believe it will stay this way.  Prusa has always guaranteed you can upgrade your printer.  I too want to upgrade my 3.5 to a 4S one day.  I trust Prusa will work it out and make the nextruder available as a spare part.

RE: Upgrade path from MK3.5 to MK4

I was talking to a rep that followed me up on a LCD replacement I had to get for my mk 3.5 and I asked him about the upgrade from a mk3.5 and this is what he said!

In text form:

"Unfortunately we don't have confirmed that any upgrade from MK3.5 will be available, but I believe we should quite shortly release an article with a list of parts necessary to perform the upgrade by buying those parts separately in our e-shop."

Looks like we will finally be able to upgrade from a 3.5!
