Printing mmu3_unit1 parts, self slicing issues

Part mmu3-pulley-body-R3.stl when sliced with the recommended parameters fails printing.

The file when printed via the supplied gcode bundle prints properly.

Apparently the second layer in the supplied gcode has special parameters applied during slicing that I cannot duplicate when slicing myself.

The attached picture shows layer 1 on the left.  The top right is a picture of layer 2 from the gcode bundle that contains this part.  The bottom right is layer 2 when trying to slice myself.

I've learned that other people have run into this issue as well.  The part when sliced individually does not bridge completely and results in print failures.

Any ideas on how to get the same slicing as Prusa has in their gcode?

Teamwork,

Steve

Hi,

I noticed this when I was slicing my MMU3. You have to change the Minimum Shell Tickness at least to 1.

You will find attached my project for MK4 with all the settings I used.
I printed in variable layer height for a better part quality, with increased shells, and also I used the Classic generator and not Aracne because I got better results.
In the Advanced Print settings I changed Arc Fitting to disabled to get perfect fit, but I suggest you to revert to the original value.

Setting it to disabled I obtained very good fitting parts, but even too much for the small square nuts, that were designed with too much lag, and then they dropped down from each mounting hole! It was a pain to keep them inside during the assembly, so better to push them with a pliers and file some holes when they are too small than become crazy with all the nuts that were going in and out on the table when you moved upside down the part and you did not yet inserted all the screws. 🤣

Regards

Thank you for the details.  I wound up simply printing supplied gcode (without input shaper) on my MK4 in MK3 emulation.  Good to get your explanation.  I also found that the design is to help part removal from the bed and not for actual part design requirements.
