Selector Calibrating incorrectly?

I'm having a really hard time loading filament in anything but position 1 most of the time.  In the other positions the filament doesn't make it through to the finda because the selector is misaligned.

I have noticed that sometimes when the selector is doing calibration and it goes right first and does it's little bounce then all filaments will load correctly, and when loading filament 1 it's about 1mm from the left edge.  The problem is that most of the time it doesn't do the calibration on the right and instead it just grinds against the left and only the first filament will load correctly after that, and I've noticed that it's right up against the left edge instead of having the 1mm gap.

I've read a bunch of documentation and read in the forum but I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong.  In the one instance where I got it aligned correctly and got the filaments loaded for a multicolor print it worked flawlessly.  If I could just get this selector situation sorted I feel like it would be working pretty well.

Does anyone have any suggestions?  I'm on the latest firmware for my mk2.5s and MMU2s

Try cleaning the selector rods and copper tubes. Do NOT oil/grease them. Check that the copper tubes are not binding on the selector rods for some reason.

Everything is moving freely there it's just doing the wrong thing.  If I turn off the machine and then turn it on again and load filament 1 first sometimes it will calibrate correctly, and then other times it won't.  If I put the 1.5mm against the left wall of the MMU when it's doing the incorrect calibration it ends up close enough to get things working, but that doesn't seem like a reasonable solution to me.

Make sure the rods are not loose in the plastic housing either. If they can slide it can dampen the impact enough to cause homing to fail.

I had similar homing failures until I wedged one of my rods in place with a scrap of filament.

Hi,

I had similar issues but this was due to some warping between the idler motor and idler body. Try to unscrew all of the screws on the idler motor as well as the two screws on the idler drum. Carefully hold the motor to the body and tighten, ever so lightly, the two drum screws. Tighten the motor, ensuring that the motor is oriented correctly. If the motor is in any other position than the prescribed position in the manual, nothing will work right.

Interesting and a very good tip.

I have had a lot of issues with the selector homing and usually things going wrong as it bangs itself against the right most side.
Most of the time failing to home properly and then just blink after a couple of tries.

I know one of the rods is lose and can move freely in the housing, maybe 2-3mm or so.
I guess i have to try and fix that.

this is an old post but this was exactly what has been plaguing me for some time turn the motor 90 deg so that the motor wires ar facing up instead of toward the other motor and vwalla homes 3 times instead of repeatedly
