Nylock mod still effective?

Hi all, ive done a large print that had major warping apart from the ovioubs ,ears, higher temp etc im thinking of doing the nylock mod as my bed is very uneven. Is it still worth it in 2024 many thanks.

Please help me out by downloading a model it's free and easy but really helps me out https://www.printables.com/@Hello_474427/models

RE:

In my experience it’s still efective ...up to a point, depending on the flatness of your bed (meaning the PCB, not the metal frame ).

Take into account that the adjustments change with different steel plates and/or different bed temperatures. You may get excellent flatness at 60C, but at 80 or 100C the values will change, specially around the edges/corners. Also, if you want to keep that flatness, you’d need to readjust the screws every few weeks.

Anyway, the main point isn’t that but the fact that if the bed is warped (with small bumps and dips) the nylock mod will help somehow but won’t be a panacea. Look for instance at the results of a 7x7 mesh of my bed at 60C with a satin plate after a long and thorough nylock mod.

The 9 points corresponding roughly to the screws (in bold) are almost perfect, but some intermediate points are 60 or 70 microns above or below the central point.

See the central column values : they go from 0.152 at the rear point, down to 0.086, then up to 0.145 in the center, then up to 0.205 and down again to 0.145 at the front.

To get flawless results we’d need a bed with 49 screws  !.

RE: Nylock mod still effective?

I don't know why it wouldn't still be effective. I bought my used MK3S with the nylock mod already installed. It has been working pretty well, although it rattles a bit while moving the Y axis. I have to adjust the nuts once in a while. The rattling noise disappears when I adjust the nuts tightly, but then the bed isn't perfectly leveled.
