MK3S+ with Revo Upgrade

Hey guys, please don't beat me up too much for this but I'm a total noob and have no idea what I'm doing and don't want to mess it up.

I put a Revo on my printer and I have never been able to run the thermal model. So, I was excited to learn about the new Firmware but when I ran it the first time, it failed.

So, I dove into this page here and started reading about adding a third party hotend. https://github.com/prusa3d/Prusa-Firmware/releases/tag/v3.13.0

Then, I went through all the trouble of editing the H file here https://github.com/prusa3d/Prusa-Firmware/blob/v3.13.0-RC1/Firmware/variants/README.md

Only to find out it was already done for me here https://github.com/prusa3d/Prusa-Firmware/blob/v3.13.0-RC1/Firmware/variants/1_75mm_MK3S-EINSy10a-E3DREVO.h

Then, I started reading about these files https://github.com/prusa3d/Prusa-Firmware/tree/MK3/Firmware/thermal_model

on and on and on...my head started spinning and I came here.

Long story short, I have no idea where to put what file or how to do it.

I should mention I was able to get a Rasberry Pi setup with Octoprint so I can talk to my printer wirelessly, but I also have a cable to go directly into the printer like I do when I am updating the firmware.

If there is a step-by-step guide that I am not finding? I'd appreciate a link or any help you can offer. Thanks.

RE: MK3S+ with Revo Upgrade

Hi Yerman,

I just finish to to the same task.

Once you have installed the REVO on the MK3S+, go and download the REVO firmware package from https://github.com/prusa3d/Prusa-Firmware/releases/download/v3.13.0/e3d_REVO_fw_MK3_MK3S_MK3S+_3_13_0_6873.zip

From the ZIP extract the file E3DREVO_fw_MK3S_MK3S+_3_13_0_6873.hex and flash it to the printer.

If you have an MMU2S then you will need to flash also the MMU2, since with 3.13 prusa requires a new MMU2 firmware ( https://github.com/prusa3d/Prusa-Firmware/releases/download/v3.13.0/MMU3_3.0.0+814.hex ).

Then perform a FACTORY RESET, that means PRESS the RESET button and keep pressed the rotaty knob for a second or two.

You will get the RESET menu, and choose All Data (that is important to delete the E3DV6 TM data)

The printer will restart, and then follow the Setup Wizard, that will setup, Language, Axes alignment, and temperature and nozzle settings.

Then that's all.

RE: MK3S+ with Revo Upgrade

I just loaded 3.12.2, and I'm getting the temp issue again. Are there specific 3.12.2 hex files for the latest firmwares that are required for Revo owners? Or is there a setting somewhere that I'm missing that I can specify that I have the Revo hot end?

RE: MK3S+ with Revo Upgrade

FYI, I found my answer:

Yes, there are specific HEX files for the revo for each release.

There is NOT a setting that you can edit to indicate that you have the Revo update.

Where did you find the HEX files for 3.13.2? I am at 3.13.0 with the Revo.

downloaded and flashed printer fine. did the calibration and works, now wont read the sd card. Thought it mighte be the flash so reflashed again, failed about half way through. printer works but wont read sd card. I have tried to reflash to other versions and it fails the same way.

Any input on this? Barry

RE: MK3S+ with Revo Upgrade

Hi, I just installed the latest REVO firmware 3.13.2 (7080) and the new MMU3 firmware 3.0.1 (837) and all was fine.

My Wireless SD is working and I successfully printed a MMU3 test print (Prusa badge)

Regards

RE: MK3S+ with Revo Upgrade

I have some problems with the latest Revo firmware (E3DREVO_fw_MK3S_MK3S+_3_13_2_7080.hex), had used the previously firmware (E3DREVO_fw_MK3S_MK3S+_3_13_1_6876.hex) without problems. So today I upgraded to the latest and now it can not pass the calibration. The XYZ calibration finishes with the probing that takes so long time, but after that it goes up and comes down again to do the final "usual" Z-calibration 9-point thing with steel sheet. BUT... it goes down too low, crashes into bed 🙁 saying "Bed leveling failed. Sensor didn't trigger. Debris on nozzle? Waiting for reset.".

Ok, so I press knob and reset and then goes in to calibration wizard again. Then it has to start all over again. And same thing happens.

Every time I adjust both Z-axis so that X-axis is parallell to bed.

There is no debris on nozzle.

The sensor works also. If I go into support menu and read the sensor when placing some metal under it responds. So it triggers alright.

I have done the reset procedure in some various ways. Because of this I have done this like seven (!) times. It always crashes into the bed 🙁 I will not do it again, soon something will brake down.

Anyone else having this problem after upgrading to the latest Revo firmware? Right now I just ignore this, I can print, but it feels bad since the calibration wizard has not yet been completed.

RE:

There‘s a steel sheet underneath your paper!(picture) Calibration has to be done without a sheet, only a paper sheet on the heatbed. Normally the wizard asks you before calibration if there‘s a steelsheet on (y/n). You should answer this question correctly to get the right results. If you calibrate with a steel sheet on, but telling the wizard no, calibration does not calculate right.

yes, the first calibration without sheet and only paper. That went ok. But this is the second calibration when it does the regular 9-point thing with sheet. after the 5th time I added a paper also to protect the sheet from the crash. Sorry I was unclear about that detail. I have a video of it also just before the photo.

RE: MK3S+ with Revo Upgrade

Did we ever find a solution? I am in the same position currently. Revo installed, just tried updating to 3.13.0 then 3.13.current. I performed a factory reset each time as described above.

I think I'll try again tonight as I believe at least the TM issue is from using the wrong main hex file (confused by the 3.13 0 statement that it supports Revo in the log, but the head crash during settup doesn't make sense to me.

Unfortunately, even reverting to 3.13.0(main) gets this same head crash right after being asked to put the metal sheet back on.

It almost feels like the head should be traveling up instead of down, or the probe is failing to be checked by the firmware durring that move.

RE: MK3S+ with Revo Upgrade

Resolved. Yes, I had the wrong hex files installed. I don't know what could be different in the firmware to cause a headcrash but the version that is working (so far so good) is E3DREVO_fw_MK3S_MK3S+_3_13_2_7080 from the variants list in the .zip hosted on the github.
