Linear Advance - Slic3r PE

Ok, I was reading the newlsetter and it said that the settings are already in Slic3r PE for the Linear Advance. I checked the gcode section of my filaments and cannot find any changes/additions.

Can we get a better guide for setting up Linear Advance through editing gcode?

Marlin site has good information about Linear Advance, but I don't want to screw something up if the new version of Slic3r PE already has changes made to it.

Do you have Slic3er PE 1.37.2 ?

look under Filament Settings-> Custom G-code

Yup, I have the most recent version. I am guessing that since I do not use any of the default filaments, that may be the reason.

I did uncheck suppress default and even the default doesn't have any linear advance gcode.

Re: Linear Advance - Slic3r PE

in my PC, the single filament Slic3r, has linear advance settings in the filament Gcode section, but the MMU section does not have linear advance settings

as I currently only have an MMU printer in service, this is not very helpful.

Is there supposed to be a new text field for the M900 K setting? If so, that isn't showing in mine.

Re: Linear Advance - Slic3r PE

Ok, found out what happened. Since I update via the github releases, I did not get all the default filaments you would get from a fresh install.

I uninstalled, downloaded the windows installer build and voila... the M900 K## is there in each filament. However I do not use those filaments, so all they are to me is a reference point for now before I remove them all.

So for anyone else looking for the M900 K code, it won't be in there unless you install from the windows installer file.

On a side note though, since M900 K code is going to be a constant in the 3D printing world (at least for a while), I would prefer to see a dropdown or textbox directly for it in Slic3r with use information. Then when you export the gcode, it automatically gets placed in the file as start code.

Been out for a week and just catching up so this may be answered in another post somewhere that I haven't gotten to.

The M900 settings for the MMU are set in the printer G-code and not the filament G-code. In mine it shows M900 K200 as the last line.

Thanks. Nothing like standardisation. 🙂
