mk3 probe overshotting the bed

I built my mk3 kit over the weekend and haven't been able to pass the xyz calibration test. The probe is going past the calibration points and eventually the head crashes the bed. I'm hoping someone here can help out. I've included a pic so it's hopefully better explained.

Hi Paul,

for starters...
Have you done a factory reset?

Have you loaded the latest firmware? Version 3.1.3

did your X and Y And Z axis tests pass?

did the sensor find any of the calibration points?

if not... now might be a good time to do so...

regards Joan

I did not do a factory reset since I had just updated the firmware.

Yes, loaded firmware version 3.1.3

Yes all axis check OK on the self test

I don't think the sensor is finding any of the points, when it looks for point 1 it's probably about 1 inch away from it but the testing does move from searching for point one to searching for point 2 which is when it ends up eventually hitting the bed.

Re: mk3 probe overshotting the bed

is your steel sheet on at this time?

if memory serves well these tests should be done with the steel sheet off the bed

at rest, with the extruder well above the bed. the LED should be illuminated on the pinda, does it go off, if you put your pliers against the flat end of the Pinda probe?

From the photo, your PINDA isn't over the print bed. This shouldn't happen during the calibration, since it can't detect the height of the print bed if it's not over it.

Turns out the pulley opposite the motor was to tight and causing the print head to skip steps
