Extruder clogging

Hi everyone!

I've had my printer for about 2 months and it's been working perfect up until a couple of days ago when a print failed. The model unstuck from the heatbed and the extruder just built up a massive blob. I had to clean up some burnt material and tried to get the nozzle clean again. However now when i print the material often run up the side of the nozzle and clogs up. It's like the nozzle is more sticky then the heatbed. Is there any good methods of cleaning the nozzle properly or is it ruined?

Re: Extruder clogging

So I bought and installed a new nozzle and I get these bumpy lines during the calibration print. Tried both raising and lowering Z. It's still like the filament wants to run up the side of the nozzle like an arc while it's traveling before settling on the bed.

Any help?

Re: Extruder clogging

Im not as experienced as most on here but Ill give it a shot. Even though its a new nozzle, go ahead and preheat to your filament temp, clean the nozzle with a wire brush, and take the acupuncture needle and run it in and out a few times. If it still arcs then Id say you have something inside the other components of the hot end (burnt plastic, dirt, etc). If thats the case then you'll have to take it apart, and clean everything with a pipe cleaner and a small drill bit. Just spin the bit with your hand or a small pair of vise grips. Too much pressure (using a drill) will start removing the metal! I hope this helps you.

Re: Extruder clogging

Have you tried cold pulls? Also known as the Atomic Method. I'd try that before the hassle of disassembling, and possible damage of using a drill bit. See

or you can find more info by searching the forums and the net for "cold pull" or "atomic method."
