Consistent line gaps on Z axis - why? (SOLVED)

I have tried every possible combination of settings in Simplify 3D. I keep getting these lines, despite different materials, temperatures, print speeds, cleaned nozzle, factory reset etc.

Does ANYONE have a clue what's causing this?

What material are you printing and at which temperature? Is the extruder motor skipping steps?

Have you printed some of the .gcode files that came on the SD card with the printer?

If they print fine, then it's probably a software issue.

You could try Slic3r with the custom Prusa config bundle.
